We are bursting with pride to announce that Seton Catholic’s own Keri Bustamante has been named a 2026 St. John Baptist de La Salle Educator Excellence Award Winner!

Named in honor of the patron saint of teachers, this award recognizes educators who exemplify excellence. Recipients must demonstrate an unwavering commitment to the Catholic mission and identity, inspiring presence within their school communities.

All outstanding nominees were recommended by parents and fellow staff members, whose heartfelt submissions highlighted the profound impact educators have on the lives of their students as well as the inspiration they provide to their colleagues.

Mrs. Bustamante is entering her 15th year at Seton Catholic, and has taught a variety of science courses including AP Environmental Science, Honors Chemistry, Honors Biology and AP Biology.

In her own words, Mrs. Bustamante says,
“I love helping students reach their full potential and realize just how amazing they are both academically and as a person. High School is an especially fun age to teach as students begin to discover their passions and figure out what they want to do in the future. My goal is for students to leave my classroom appreciating science, even if they do not continue to study it in the future. I never want them to say they “hated science” and hope they always had an enjoyable learning experience in my classroom.”

The seven honorees will be recognized in September at Fulcrum’s Chairman’s Reception. Please join us in congratulating Mrs. Bustamante on this incredible achievement!

Tanabata Festival brings wishes to Portland Japanese Garden The Portland Japanese Garden hosted its annual Tanabata festival Sunday, where visitors wrote wishes and hung them from bamboo trees.

The final stop for our students on the tour was the beautiful country of Spain! - Thank you to Mr. Chase and all of our chaperones for helping to create memories to last a lifetime.

Happy 250th Seton Family!

🎓 Samsung American Legion Scholarship Recipient

The Samsung American Legion Scholarship is one of the nation's premier scholarship opportunities for participants in American Legion Boys State and Girls State programs. Established through a generous endowment from Samsung in recognition of U.S. veterans who served during the Korean War, the scholarship recognizes outstanding leadership, academic achievement, and community involvement.

🎉 Congratulations to Max Moran, who has been selected as Evergreen Boys & Girls State's recipient for the Samsung American Legion Scholarship!

As Washington's recipient, Max is guaranteed to receive a minimum of $1,250 scholarship. His application will now advance to the national selections, where it will be considered alongside from across the country for one of ten $10,000 scholarships or one of ten $5,000 scholarships.

We are incredibly proud of Max's accomplishments and wish him the very best as he represents Evergreen Boys & Girls State and the State of Washington on the national stage.
