As many of you may have heard from your children, our school community has been deeply affected by recent RIF (Reduction in Force) budget decisions. Sixteen of our teachers are being cut for the upcoming 2026–2027 school year. These are not just positions—they are people who have supported, encouraged, and built meaningful relationships with our children every single day.
For many of our students, these teachers are trusted mentors and steady sources of comfort and inspiration. Some have been part of Walnut Grove for years, helping shape the heart of our school. Losing them will have a lasting impact on our kids, both academically and emotionally.
As parents, we have a powerful voice—and right now, our voices matter more than ever.
We are asking for just 20 minutes of your time to join a planned walk-in to show our collective support for the incredible staff at Walnut Grove. This is a chance to stand together as a community and advocate for the teachers who have invested so much in our children.
Please take a moment to review the attached flyer for details.
In addition, there is an upcoming district board meeting where we strongly encourage families to attend and speak up. By showing up, we can advocate for keeping the teachers our children already know and trust—especially in schools like ours that are being disproportionately impacted by these cuts. We will make a separate post with the date and time of this meeting.
Our presence can make a difference. Our voices can help protect the relationships that matter so much to our kids.
This is not a PTA-sponsored event; however, we are sharing this information to stand in support of our teachers who are impacted by these district decisions. We care deeply about our school community and want to help ensure our educators feel supported during this time.
Thank you for standing with us to support our students and our teachers.
Warmly,
Your Walnut Grove PTA Board Members
