Join me LIVE from my forest cottage as we paint a lush watercolor garden inspired by the ferns, wildflowers, moss, and woodland magic. Weather permitting, I'll be teaching from outdoors under the canopy of trees.

This beginner-friendly workshop is about more than learning watercolor techniques. It's about discovering how nature can inspire loose, expressive painting filled with vibrant color and creative vitality.

I'll guide you step by step as we create a luminous forest garden while sharing watercolor techniques you can use long after class ends.

Pacific Northwest forests are teeming with mushrooms in extraordinary shapes, colors, and sizes. In this beginner-friendly workshop, we’ll take inspiration from the fungi of the woods and create a loose, expressive painting featuring the iconic Amanita muscaria, the magical red-and-white mushroom that looks straight out of Alice in Wonderland...and really does grow in our forests.

I’ll be teaching LIVE from my little forest cottage, surrounded by the trees of the Pacific Northwest. Weather permitting, I may even set up outside and paint with you from the forest itself.

Using watercolor, white ink, and black pigment, I’ll guide you step by step as we draw our mushroom and build an atmospheric woodland scene using loose, playful watercolor techniques.

No need to be an experienced painter. Come curious, bring your supplies, and spend 90 creative minutes escaping into the woods with me.

Painted Wings in the Wild: A Forest Art Retreat

Inspired by the crow and the hummingbird, this immersive outdoor retreat invites you to slow down, listen to birdsong, breathe deeply, and reconnect with your creativity in a peaceful forest setting.

We will spend the day observing the natural world, enjoying creative camaraderie, and creating expressive watercolor and mixed media artwork inspired by the beauty, movement, and spirit of birds. Along the way, I'll share techniques, demonstrations, and creative prompts designed to help you create art that feels personal, expressive, and uniquely your own.

This retreat is about much more than painting birds. It is an opportunity to step away from everyday responsibilities, spend unrushed time in nature, and nourish your creative spirit alongside a small community of fellow art lovers.

During our day together, you will:

• Create an expressive crow painting using watercolor and mixed-media
• Paint a colorful hummingbird inspired by the beauty of the forest
• Slow down and deepen your observation of the natural world
• Enjoy creative conversation and connection with fellow participants

Crows are beloved the world over, often seen as symbolic messengers between the worlds. Crows inspire many artworks with their impressive beak and strong presence.

In this workshop, participants will be guided step by step in laying down the drawing lines using a simple transfer technique. We will then bring our murder of crows to life with watercolor paint on 9x12 Coldpress watercolor paper.

ALL SUPPLIES PROVIDED including professional grade paint and watercolor brush

This is a beginner friendly workshop as well as helpful for the seasoned art maker. We will be using a stylized approach of loose and impressionistic art making that is expressive and painterly. It is a forgiving process that allows for creative mistakes to be weaved into the art.

This workshop is suitable for youth (Must be accompanied by a registered parent or guardian)
