Mariner Moments – Catching Kids Being Awesome!

🎣 Catch of the Day at Fisher’s Landing!

We’re back in the Mariner Café for today’s catches—and both are wonderful examples of what it looks like to Be Kind! 💙⚓

Our first catch goes to Bella. Today, one of our Mariners was looking for someone to have lunch with in a different location. Several peers politely declined because they wanted to stay where they were—and that was okay! But Bella noticed that her peer really wanted someone to spend that time with and graciously said YES. 💙

The HUGE smile on her peer’s face said it all. 🥰 One simple choice made someone else’s day. Bella showed empathy, kindness, and a willingness to put someone else first. Those moments matter. Way to go, Bella!

Our next catch goes to Madden, who was also spotted in the café! We know the transition from recess to lunch—coming inside, getting food, and waiting patiently in line—can sometimes be tricky. Today, Madden was the epitome of kindness, patience, and politeness with our café chefs. She followed expectations, waited patiently, and treated the adults around her with respect. What a fantastic role model! 🌟

AND... because we always love giving you a peek into life around our building... today’s recess came with some BONUS ENTERTAINMENT! 😂 Our Mariners were absolutely fascinated by the work happening on our gutters—especially watching staff use the bucket lift to get ALL THE WAY up there! 👀⬆️

Apparently, playground equipment has some serious competition when there's a bucket lift involved! 😂

Mariner Moments – Catching Kids Being Awesome!

🎣 Catch of the Day at Fisher’s Landing!

Today’s Catch of the Day goes to two of our kindergarten Mariners—Soleil and Amelia! 🌟⚓

Transitions are an important part of kindergarten, and today these two absolutely SHINED! ✨

During library, Soleil and Amelia were respectful and followed expectations as they checked out exciting books to take home. 📚
Then it was time to transition back to their classroom, get ready for dismissal, and join their teacher at the carpet for a little more end-of-day learning.

Through every transition, they listened, followed routines, and showed they were ready for whatever came next!

And did we mention it was an early-release Wednesday?! 😄 A different schedule can throw all of us off a little, but these two Mariners handled the changes like pros!

Learning how to transition from one activity to another may seem like a small thing, but it's a BIG kindergarten skill. It helps our classrooms stay calm, positive, and ready for learning—and it's another great way to show Respect for our teachers, classmates, and learning spaces. 💙

Way to go, Soleil and Amelia! We are so proud of our kindergarten Mariners! ⚓🌟

Mariner Moments – Catching Kids Being Awesome!

🎣 Catch of the Day at Fisher’s Landing!

Today’s catches come straight from the Mariner Café, where three students showed us some great examples of Respect in action! 💙⚓

Our first catches go to Lucas and Akito, who were doing a fantastic job following our cafeteria voice-level expectations. But they still wanted to communicate with each other…so they got creative! 😂 They found their own way to “talk” back and forth while still respecting the expectations of the space.

We had a lot of fun trying to figure out exactly what they were telling each other—and we DEFINITELY loved the smiles on their faces! 😄 What a great example of being solutions-oriented: How can we still have fun together AND follow the expectation? Lucas and Akito figured it out!

Our next catch goes to Adri, who noticed that some milk had accidentally spilled on the table. 🥛 Rather than leaving it for someone else, Adri got a paper towel and cleaned it up. She took care of our cafeteria and helped support our incredible custodians who do so much to care for our school every day. 🌟

As we wrap up our September focus on Respect, these moments remind us that respect shows up in so many everyday choices—following expectations, finding positive solutions, taking care of our shared spaces, and thinking about the people around us.
Way to go, Lucas, Akito and Adri! 💙⚓

Mariner Moments – Catching Kids Being Awesome!

🎣 Catch of the Day at Fisher’s Landing!

Today’s catches are all about helping our community and making things better for the people around us! 💙⚓

➕ Our first catch goes to Aleena and Owen, who were caught during their math block today. As sometimes happens, technology had other plans! 😂 When some glitches meant the class needed to pivot from digital resources to paper, Aleena and Owen didn't miss a beat. They got right up, distributed all of their classmates’ math workbooks, and helped their teacher make a smooth, completely unplanned transition.

And guess what? The technology glitch didn't stop the learning—a great math lesson followed! 🌟 We love seeing Mariners notice what needs to be done and jump in to help. Way to go, Aleena and Owen!

💙 We also want to give a BIG shoutout to our 5th grade Mariners! They have been creating beautiful posters filled with positive quotes and encouraging messages and hanging them throughout our building. What a wonderful way to use their leadership to bring a little extra joy and kindness to everyone who walks our halls!
As we begin wrapping up our monthly focus on Respect, we're reminded just how amazing a community can be when we value one another, care for one another, and look for ways to make someone else's day a little better.

🚦 And we have ONE more shoutout for Mr. Bob and our Safety Patrol! Rain or shine, they are out there helping our Mariners arrive and leave school safely each day. Thank you for taking such good care of our community in the mornings and after school!
From the math classroom, to our hallways, to the crosswalk outside—Mariners helping Mariners is something worth celebrating! 💙⚓

🎣 Catch of the Day at Fisher’s Landing!

Today’s Catch of the Day goes to TWO ADULTS! 🌟 We’re catching Ms. Gragg and Mr. Gragg, who have been instrumental in making our 2nd Annual Mariner Marathon happen! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️⚓

Led by Ms. Gragg, these two—along with an amazing group of volunteers and PTO members—have planned this event from the ground up! From organizing all the details to getting our course and grounds ready, there has been a tremendous amount of behind-the-scenes work to prepare for tomorrow.

📸 We were able to catch Ms. Gragg for a picture today…but we couldn't catch Mr. Gragg on the lawn mower fast enough! 😂 Just more evidence of how hard these two have been working to get everything ready for our Mariners!

Tomorrow, our whole community comes together for the Mariner Marathon, running for fitness AND our school! 💙⚓ We can't wait to see our Mariners out there moving, cheering each other on, and showing their Mariner Pride!

A HUGE THANK YOU to Ms. and Mr. Gragg, our volunteers, and our PTO for the time, energy, and love you have poured into this event. We couldn't do it without you!

☀️ Mariners, don't forget: Wear comfortable clothes, choose shoes you can run in, and consider sunscreen—it’s going to be warm out there!

Mariner Moments – Catching Kids Being Awesome!

🎣 Catch of the Day at Fisher’s Landing!

Today’s catches remind us that RESPECT can show up in so many different ways! 💙⚓

🍎 Our first catches go to Jindmeet and Thanvi, who were both noticed in the cafeteria today going above and beyond to take care of our shared space. At the end of lunch, they made sure trays were properly “locked in” for stacking and that leftover food made it into the compost bin.

But they didn't stop with their own trays! Jindmeet and Thanvi noticed other trays that weren't quite locked in or still had food that needed to be scraped, and they jumped in to help. 🌟 They weren't asked—they simply saw something that would help our community and took care of it. That's respect, responsibility, and kindness in action!

And … we have to give a shout out to a group of 5th grade Mariners who stepped up during recess today! 🙌 In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, these students volunteered to create two bulletin boards for our school. They gave up some of their recess time to help our building recognize and celebrate the cultures, histories, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities. ❤️
From taking care of our cafeteria to helping make sure the people and cultures in our community are celebrated, our Mariners continue to show us that being respectful shows up in SO many ways.

Mariner Moments – Catching Kids Being Awesome!

🎣 Catch of the Day at Fisher’s Landing!

Today’s catches are two wonderful examples of kindness, respect, and looking out for others! 💙⚓

Our first catch goes to Aaryan, who showed tremendous kindness during recess. A younger Mariner wanted access to the space and some of the items Aaryan was using. Aaryan was patient, shared what he had, and worked to help support the younger student so they could enjoy the space too. 🌟

We love seeing our Mariners recognize that sometimes kindness means being flexible, patient, and making room for someone else. What a great role model, Aaryan!

Our next catch goes to Laila, who went out of her way to find Ms. Anderson and let her know that one of our restrooms needed a little attention. Here's what we especially loved: Laila didn't need the restroom herself. She simply recognized that someone else would, saw something that needed to be taken care of, and made sure the right person knew about it. 🙌

These may seem like small moments, but they're exactly the kinds of choices that make a community stronger. Notice others. Think beyond yourself. Choose kindness. Take care of your community. 💙

And... we just had to share some amazing work from one of our classes! These students are also working on their identity maps. Incredible!
