This school year, the church was blessed with the opportunity to donate school supplies and other items to Vanceboro Farm Life Elementary School. We are grateful for the opportunity to support our local students, teachers, and school community. We pray that this school year is filled with success, growth, joy, and many blessings!

Our students have been learning all about the different communities we belong to—from our homes and neighborhoods to our school community! ❤️🖤

Today, Mrs. Morris’s students worked together in groups to wrap up their learning. They did an amazing job collaborating, sharing ideas, and showing what they know! 🌟

We love seeing our students learning that they each have an important place and role within their communities. What a great example of learning through teamwork! 👏

🏔️📚 Learning in Action in 4th Grade! 📚🏔️

Our 4th-grade students in Mrs. Williams’ class were hard at work learning about the timeline and history of Yellowstone National Park! 🌲🦬

We loved seeing students use strong reading strategies as they worked. Students were tracking the text with their fingers, returning to the text to locate evidence, and using that evidence to support their responses to questions. 🔎📖

These intentional reading habits help our students become stronger, more independent readers and thinkers. Way to go, Mrs. Williams and our 4th-grade leaders! 💙

🎉📚 What a GREAT First Week at VFL! 📚🎉

We are officially one week into the school year, and what a week it has been! ❤️🖤 Our classrooms have been filled with learning, laughter, friendship, and lots of fun!

From making friendship bracelets 🧵💙 and painting rocks 🎨🪨 to using hands-on math manipulatives 🔢 and exploring new ways to learn, our students have jumped right in! We even had one class end the week with root beer floats for reaching their very first Wildy Important Goal!

We are so proud of the way our students have started the year and can’t wait to see all the learning, growing, and memories still to come!

☀️ Today, our VFL teachers and staff got to enjoy our FREE Sunshine Snack Cart, courtesy of Roy & Betty Hicks with Hicks Propane! 💛 they partnered with VFL RISE to make a wonderful Friday morning!

We are so thankful for their generosity and continued support of our VFL family! 🍪☕🍓

🍎💙💛 Lunch, Laughter & New Friendships at VFL! 💛💙🍎

The first week of school is about so much more than learning new routines and getting back into the classroom—it is also about reconnecting with friends, making new ones, and building our VFL school family! 🥰

Our cafeteria has been full of smiles, conversations, laughter, and lots of excitement as our students settle into the new school year. Lunch gives our leaders an opportunity to relax, connect with classmates, and practice the habits that make VFL such a special place.

We are seeing students Synergize as they build relationships, Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood as they get to know one another, and Think Win-Win as they learn how to be part of a caring school community. 🌟

And judging by these smiles, we think our students would agree—the first week has been a pretty great one! 😊

Here’s to a year filled with learning, leadership, friendships, and plenty of reasons to smile!

📚✨ Building Strong Readers—Intentionally! ✨📚

Our 1st grade team is being INTENTIONAL about building the foundation our students need to become confident, successful readers! 💙💛

A strong reader begins with strong foundational literacy skills. Our teachers are spending purposeful instructional time helping students develop phonics skills, build words, recognize patterns, strengthen vocabulary, and connect sounds to print. These skills may seem small, but they are the building blocks that allow students to move from learning to read to reading to learn! 🔤📖

We are also connecting this work to our Leader in Me culture. Our students are learning to Be Proactive by actively participating in their learning, Put First Things First by focusing on the foundational skills they need, and Synergize as they learn, practice, and grow alongside their classmates. 🌟

We love seeing classrooms where students are thinking, responding, practicing, and doing the work of learning! Our teachers aren't leaving these critical early literacy skills to chance—they are teaching them with purpose.

At VFL, we know that strong foundations lead to BIG possibilities. 🏫💡
