🧪⚡️ Science in Action! ⚡️🧪

Today, our scientists got hands-on as we explored the solubility and electrical conductivity of everyday items! 🔬💡

Students made observations, tested different materials, and worked together to determine which substances dissolved in water and which items could conduct electricity. From making predictions to collecting evidence, they were putting their scientific thinking to work! 👩‍🔬👨‍🔬

It was a great day of collaboration, curiosity, and learning by doing! These scientists are discovering that sometimes the best way to understand science is to get a little messy and test it for themselves! 🧪🙌

Mrs. Horton’s 6th graders are studying economics this week. Today students practiced identifying the four economic systems. Market, mixed, command, and traditional. They used text and pictures.

Oliver Schmidt won our Economic Systems Quizlet yesterday and is sporting his University of North Texas T-shirt prize today.

Today in Mrs. Martin’s 6th grade math classes, the students learned how to multiply fractions by fractions.

We are using visual models, real-world examples, and hands-on strategies to help students understand how multiplying fractions represents finding a part of a part. Students are using a fun and catchy chant to help remember the steps when multiplying fractions.

We encourage you to ask your child to explain what it means to multiply two fractions. It’s a great way to reinforce their learning at home!

🧪🔬 Our 4th Grade Scientists Are Back in the Lab! 🐻

Our VMS 4th grade scientists had their first lab of the year! They had so much fun exploring science through the Gummy Bear Experiment. 🧪✨

A special thank you to our amazing 4th grade teachers for helping our young scientists learn, explore, and discover! We can’t wait to see what scientific adventures are next! 🔬💡

🔬⚖️ Science in action! 🧪📏

Our 5th graders were busy exploring the properties of matter through hands-on observation stations! Students practiced using triple beam balances to measure mass and graduated cylinders to determine volume, all while making careful observations, recording data, and working collaboratively.

There’s something special about watching students take the science out of the textbook and do the science themselves! ❤️Their curiosity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills were on full display as they measured, observed, and learned from their results.

Learning science is better when you can touch it, test it, measure it, and discover it! 🧑‍🔬✨
