Today was a great day, with our building full of students and staff again! Our Cougar Leaders worked hard to welcome our new 6th graders at orientation, and teach them about VWMS! We also loved seeing by 7th and 8th graders back from summer, and ready to meet their new teachers!

Mr. Hicks and Mrs. Schaffner's Van Wert Middle School Special Needs classroom will be operating the Dunk Tank at the Van Wert County Fair on Thursday, September 3, 2026, from 5:00–9:00 PM.

This event is a fundraiser to help support our students throughout the school year. Funds raised will provide opportunities for educational field trips, hands-on classroom activities such as baking and cooking, life skills instruction, special projects, and other enriching experiences for our students.

If you're attending the fair, we hope you'll stop by the dunk tank and help support our classroom!

If you're unable to attend but would still like to contribute, donations are greatly appreciated and may be sent to:

We had a great time with our 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Cougar Leaders today! Thank you to all of our student leaders for your enthusiasm, teamwork, and positive attitudes. We can’t wait to see the impact you’ll make throughout the school year.

We’re excited to welcome our Cougar Leaders as we kick off a new school year! Please see your meeting time and location below.

🐾 8th Grade
🕘 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
📍 Meet in Mrs. Priest’s Room

🐾 6th & 7th Grade
🕙 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
📍 Meet in the Lecture Hall

🚗 Pick-Up for ALL students:

Important information for VWMS students and families‼️
➡️ 7th and 8th grade parents and students must complete FinalForms before school begins. 6th grade students will be able to sign their forms once they know their email info after school starts. (FinalForms link is here https://vanwert-oh.finalforms.com/ )
➡️ All VWMS students are required to pay an $85 school fee, which covers classroom materials, technology, and more. Make checks payable to Van Wert City Schools.
➡️ The first day of school is Wednesday, August 19.
We look forward to welcoming our students back! 🐾
