Here is the Prelims Schedule for the 2022 Edna Invitational on October 8!!! Tickets at the gate are $5 for adults, $3 for students, free for under 5. Come and support some of the hardest working kids and teachers in the area!!!

The VVHS band was blessed with the presence of Mr. Mike Henderson this evening. This guru gave his time and critiques to our students as we prepare for our first contest this weekend. As always, our students and directors learned a ton from this master of music. Thank you sir for giving so much to the Van Vleck band program year after year.

Today we had 4 students audition at Region 13 Jazz Auditions. These students competed with the surrounding 3A and 4A schools. This means they auditioned with students from schools like Needville, Brazosport, and Edna. Here are the results.

Anneliese A.: 2nd Chair Trombone All Region Jazz Band (ADVANCED TO AREA)
Caleb S.: 2nd Place Jazz Guitar
Daniel C.G.: 7th Place Alto Saxophone
Kayden G.: 11th Place Trumpet

We are proud of all of these fine young musicians for going above and beyond at this individual musicianship competition. Please congratulate them as you see them in the halls this.

We are especially proud of Anneliese A. for her Area advancement. Please help me wish her the best of luck as she auditions for her chance to advance to state in jazz. This is the first time Van Vleck has had a student make the jazz band or area in well over a decade. We are so proud of our students for continuing to strive for success in all areas of musicianship and competition.

PS We will put up a picture of all students on Monday. Due to a few of our students performing for the theater department this evening we were unable to get a group picture today. Happy to share these amazing students with various groups!

Hello all!

The Mighty Leopard Band is doing their annual clothing fundraiser and would love your support! We did something different this year and set up a gameone clothing store. This store is AMAZING! It has a ton of options, from clothing designs, to flip flops, to duffel bags and more. There is SO much in this store! There is also a section that is devoted to band gear, but also a section that is just general Van Vleck Leopards gear. We are so happy to offer a fundraiser with all of these options. Let's get excited for all of the 3A schools that will be attending the Edna Invitational Marching Contest this year! This group will be quiet competitive!!!

These kids work so hard. It’s practically dark. They can’t see their music and the mosquitoes decided 15 minutes before the end of the rehearsal was perfect swarming time.

Did they complain? No. They got to work and did our first full run through from field entrance to field exit for the season. Some of these students woke up for school at 5am (16 hours ago). Some were at cross country this morning before school. Some had volleyball practice after school until rehearsal started. Some were out on the football field for their practice. Others had proGrad meetings and others had a FFA event before rehearsal. Some went to work after school and came back to rehearse.

These kids are so determined to be the best. They could teach many adults a thing or two about time management, perseverance, and hard work. I’m proud to call this band mine and look forward to this season with these fine students and musicians.
