Some of our friends, fans, and supporters have asked for more information about our state and national competitors. So, I'm sharing this information here and hope you all will share it with others as well.
We took 23 regional qualifiers to the state contest in February. At the state level, we received 16 awards (many with multiple students recognized).
We now have 6 future educators who qualified for nationals in Minneapolis and will be competing in a variety of career-driven events at the national level. Trevor Smith and Alex Trevino who placed 3rd in the state have a presentation for their Inside our School video featuring a Pre-AP/AP English Socratic Seminar strategy and how it helps develop argumentation skills. Trevor who placed 1st in the state is also competing in the public speaking delivering a speech on the effects of homelessness on education. Kasey McElroy placed 5th in the state but has revised her essay on improving dropout rates and will be awaiting results at the national level. Samantha Bradley placed third in the state with the delivery of her personal teaching moment story, and will be delivering it again for nationals. Kasey McElroy, Onofre Rosas, and Cody Jasik created an Energy Day project on wind which placed 5th in the state and will be presenting it at the national level to compete for a potential award toward energy resources for their school.
You can help by making a donation in person, ordering from one of the fundraisers being hosted in our honor, or donating online.
