The Spanish Department is thrilled to share that 11 students have earned their Seal of Biliteracy after completing Spanish during the fall semester.

The Seal of Biliteracy is an award given by a school district to students who demonstrate proficiency in both English and another language by High School Graduation. These students took a four part standardized Spanish exam including speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Each of them passed all four areas, demonstrating proficiency.

Congratulations to the following students: Evelyn Godsey, Lydia Dwyer, Aubrey Kelly, Emily Kulbartz, Callan Keiper, Weston Kaestner, Mabry Sadler, Madison Rammelsberg, Ava Kleinmeyer, Kayley Dirks, and Nolan Harbach.

A big congratulations to these 8 seniors who passed the STAMP 4S Spanish Test and have been awarded the Iowa Seal of Biliteracy. Students need to receive at least a 5 (out of 9) on all sections of the reading, writing, speaking, and listening test. This year’s composite score from these seniors was 6.7. We are very proud of these young men and women! Well done! ¡Felicidades!

Congratulations to Paola Plascencia Muñoz and Evelin Hernandez for competing in the Mid-America Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (MIDTESOL) Essay Contest. Paola placed first and Evelin placed second. This is an exceptional accomplishment! Also, thank you to Mrs. Telgenhoff for mentoring and guiding Evelin and Paola along the way! We are all very proud of you!
