Here's a tip for keeping your asparagus fresh for up to a week. For the home gardener this is great because the daily harvest can be small when it first starts to pop up. They are best harvested when they are 8 to 10 inches tall. I am getting about six per day and this method has worked well for keeping them fresh until I have enough to prepare for a meal. It works for store bought fresh asparagus as well. Just snip off the ends so they can "drink" the water. . .the same as you do with a bouquet of purchased flowers. ☺

We're in the middle of asparagus season and it's a great time to enjoy this summer vegetable. Here's the best way to store and keep fresh asparagus.
