In preparation for our research report drafts, we took some time this week to analyze nonfiction text structures. For this project, the kiddos had to pick a topic and write 5 different paragraphs, one for each text structure: description, sequence, compare and contrast, problem and solution, and cause and effect. They blew me away with their creativity! These two talented writers were voted, by their peers, as our first place winners for their performance on this project. Way to go! 🎉

We've had a blast learning about two of my favorite people from Ancient history, Justinian and Theodora! The kiddos were tasked with creating a persuasive poster to convince the American people that Justinian would be a good candidate for President. Today, they showcased their work, and these two incredible historians won our poster showcase. This was voted on by their classmates. Excellent work! ♥️🤍 💙

We launched our argument writing unit with mini debates! The kiddos met in caucus groups to plan their argument and again to discuss their rebuttals. We discussed the components of a good debate, and these kids delivered! Their argument- Was the little old lady justified in her actions against the boy? This argument derived from an animated short that we watched. We have some future lawyers on our hands! ❤️
