Last week, our middle school students partnered with Arkansas Game & Fish Commission to grow native plants for Habitat restoration! These please will go into local lakes, like Beaver Lake to help create habitats for local fish populations. Before we got our hands dirty for a good cause, a Fisheries Biologist came and shared good information with the students. We are learning all the integral ways that we can be good stewards of God’s creation!!! 🌱

Did you know that Joshua Academy is a pilot school for Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s School of Conservation Leadership program? This program recognizes schools that increase conservation education, outdoor education, and outdoor recreation opportunities for their students. JA joined the program this school year, and in return has received wildlife education grants, allowing us to participate in Stream Team Program, Archery in Schools, an upcoming Butterfly Garden Program, upcoming Fishing Derby, and MORE! We were recently able to take some of our middle school students to take a certified Hunters Educatan Course. We have already seen the benefits of this collaboration with Arkansas Game and Fish, and we are deeply thankful for their commitment in helping get students outside to enjoy God’s creation.

At Joshua Academy, not only do we focus on core subjects, our commitments focus on the attributes of the whole child- mind, body, and spirit! Who says you have to be in a classroom to achieve those? This week, our middle school group continued one of our favorite traditions, and took a field trip to one of our generous JA family's property to harvest evergreens and other greenery to make their very own wreaths. They had to work as a team to harvest and put the wreaths together. We saw some amazing creativity, team work, communication, stewardship, and fellowship!! We also learned the history of Evergreen Trees, and how they are connected to the Garden of Eden! It was a wonderful time with our students, and we’re already looking forward to next year!
