Tuesday included participating in the Annual Day of Service and attending the First General Session of Convention.

The Annual Day of Service Event is a collaboration between Feeding Florida, Suncoast Credit Union, and Florida FFA Association to pack more than 83,000 pounds of Florida grown potatoes and carrots for families in need. Our members got to live out the last line of our motto, “Living to Serve”, and volunteer their time and effort towards something bigger than themselves.

The First General session brought high energy and excitement, officially kicking off the start of Convention. They were able to hear keynote speaker John Petz who dazzled them with some impressive magic tricks and encouraged them to make the most of every moment. 💙💛

On Sunday our chapter checked in to the 98th State FFA Convention! This is always such an exciting and fulfilling week for our students!

On Monday our officer team competed in the state finals for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies Leadership Development Event. After months of preparation and hard work, our team gave it their all and made us so proud with their performance! Unfortunately, we did not advance forward to finals. We learned a lot of valuable lessons and had an amazing experience that we will always remember. Thank you so much to for all your time and support preparing for this incredible moment!

Yesterday this team placed 2nd IN THE STATE in the State FFA Meats Judging competition. 🥩 🐮 🐷 🐑

This team has put in hours of work before, during and after school, and even on weekends. People talk about advisors sacrificing their time for CDEs, but these students have sacrificed time, other life events, and the option to just play around and “be a kid” for the opportunity to learn and compete at the state level in one of the most complex contests we have.

Not only did they put in the work, they overcame adversity when we started this contest with 4 team members and 2 alternates and, through unfortunate circumstances, ended up at the final contest with 3 team members.

Please join us in congratulating them on an excellent job well done! 💙💛
