This past week has been a bit of an emotional roller-coaster at Simiyu House, and I wanted to share it with you all. Within a week of time, I was sent the photos below...pictures of a funeral and pictures of three young girls heading to boarding school for their first year.

Zachariah Chibole was a child that Sarah Smith and I have sponsored personally for many years. Unfortunately, this past week he passed away tragically from an epileptic seizure. Zachariah was a favorite of Chris's. He was a self-appointed recruiter for Simiyu House--He had a huge heart, a bigger smile, and a love for people and school. I'll never forget meeting him for the first time, seeing the house he'd been living in, and speaking with his uncle who would be taking him in as he was re-enrolled in school. He had just finished an apprenticeship in carpentry this year. He was ready to build a life of his own. We'll miss Zachariah, and we thank the community of Isongo for showing him the love he needed and deserved.

Within the same week I was sent pictures of Sylvia, Francisca, and Shanil as they head off to their first year of high school (boarding school). We are excited and proud of these young women who have continued, pressed on, and persevered in school. Going to high school is not always guaranteed in Kenya whether it be environmental challenges or financial, but they've found a way to be successful through Simiyu House, and we thank you all for your continued support and love for these kids. You may believe what you do is small, but the difference you make is immeasurable. This is why our motto has always been "Make a Big Difference by Micro-Movements".
