Hi everybody! Please let me know if you know of anyone who wants music lessons!

I haven't written in here in ages. I truly apologize. I have been distancing myself from my musical self without realizing it.

So, to explain, I have found that I have a pinched nerve in my neck that causes my hands and fingers to tingle, fall asleep, lose strength, and get painful if I allow it to go on too long without shaking it out. This problem prevents me from being able to safely play my oboe without losing strength and dropping my poor baby.

This problem does NOT, however, prevent me from still being a good teacher. So, if you are interested in lessons, please allow me to become a part of your musical education and life :-) I look forward to it!

Tonight, I am SO proud to say that I am part of this girl - Erin Mathewson's life. She started in 4th grade with me as her general music teacher, then in 5th grade she joined band and chose the oboe - like me! Her mom, Rita Hart, got her started with me in private lessons - and she simply thrived on the music and the oboe. It was an amazing and inspiring thing to see - and be a part of! I taught her private lessons roughly through her sophomore year of high school (sparsely there, toward the end, sadly), when we moved out to Indiana. I have always missed her terribly. We always had fun together being "weird oboe players" during our lessons.

So, tonight, as she finalized her acceptance to the U of I music school for the Fall, I want to say one thing:
YOU ARE GOING TO BE AMAZING, ERIN!

I am sad to say that my oboe has suffered an injury - bent rod. Gotta go to the oboe doctor again! :-P

Happy New Year to you ALL!
I feel as if I've been neglecting this page, and for a self-piteous reason (is that a phrase? lol). My lone student, Lyzz Joyce, has gone off to college and left me. ::insert pouty face here:: I am SO proud of her, however, for being such an amazing musician and making one of the top groups there. SO proud. YOU'RE AMAZING, Lyzz - and I miss you terribly! :-P
As for giving music lessons - I am missing it! If anyone knows of anyone looking for someone to take lessons with, please pass on my information. I know I probably sound like a long-time broken record, but I'm just trying to get established here - and hope to sometime soon - as a lesson teacher!
Again, happy new year to you all, and keep on listening to beautiful music for inspiration in your life!

Some fun jokes at our own expense...always a good time:
1)What's the difference between a SCUD missile and a bad oboist?
a)A bad oboist can kill you.
2) How many oboe players does it take to change a lightbulb?
a)Only one but he'll go through 30 to 40 bulbs to find the best one.
3) What is the definition of a major second?
a)Two baroque oboes playing in unison.

Reeds are the curse of oboists. And that's just the way it goes.

One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain. - Bob Marley
