President’s Corner
September 2026

September is a time of transition. We move from summer to fall. Young people go from summer vacation to school. The weather changes. This summer season I had the opportunity to venture to northern Wisconsin, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and Isle Royale National Park. We viewed fireworks and participated parades for the 4th of July. Most of us also experienced storms and other weather events that affected our lives this summer. And I photographed all of it.

At the Duneland Photography club, we participated in summer events. We visited Hamstra and Ogden Gardens. We had a Chicago excursion and a Porter County Fair photoshoot. We exhibited our work at the Porter County Fair and in a show for our club at the Art Barn. We photographed butterflies and horses.

As the seasons change, we have more opportunities. The color of autumn trees and flowers are popular to photograph. Harvest festivals are fun. The migration of birds, such as sandhill cranes attracts our attention. Walks in the woods and on the beach are more peaceful without the summer crowds.

Enjoy what each season has to offer. Now is the time to enjoy cooler weather. Look for opportunities to revel in. Capture the visions and the memories. Photos are time machines, capturing a microsecond of our lives. Savor them.

At the Duneland Photography Club, we share life together. We help each other to learn the art of photography and encourage each other in it. Come to the meetings, classes, photoshoots and exhibits and you will see. Let’s transition to something new together.
