We hope that everyone is staying safe after the storm! As with many of our neighbors, we also lost trees in the storm. Most upsetting, perhaps, is the shade tree by the playground. The students really loved that tree.

Congratulations to Madison! For the past two years, Madison interned with Mrs. Dilbeck helping instruct our applied skills students. We think she has a bright future ahead and we're glad she chose education as her future!
Congratulations to 2026 CHS graduate and outstanding 4-H member, Madison Boatright, who was awarded the Arthur O. Davis 4-H Horse & Pony $5000 Scholarship.
This scholarship was established in memory of Arthur O. Davis—beloved former Porter County 4-H Horse & Pony Superintendent who passed away unexpectedly in March 2022—the scholarship honors Art’s lifelong dedication to youth development through 4-H. His legacy lives on through this annual award, managed by the Porter County Community Foundation.
Madison will attend Ball State University this fall, where she plans to major in Elementary Special Education. A dedicated leader both in and out of the classroom, Madison served as captain of the Chesterton High School girls’ wrestling team, competed on the school's equestrian team, and volunteered as a coach with the Chesterton Wrestling Club. A 10-year participant in the Porter County 4-H Horse & Pony program, she has demonstrated a commitment to leadership, mentorship, and service, helping younger riders build confidence to succeed. Madison has also balanced school with part-time employment while working toward her goal of becoming a teacher who inspires and advocates for children with special needs.

Today, we're sharing an assortment of pictures from across a span of years (judging by the clothing) that show, for those that know what the school looks like now, how much it has changed in its 40+ year history.
Some photos have descriptions to help you place them, plus a few have comparisons with what the building looks like today.
