Loose, under-torqued, or improperly assembled solar connectors can lead to system failures, melted connectors, and serious safety problems. In this hands-on demonstration, Emmitt Muckles tests the Solar Connector Assembly Tool—better known as the S**T—from Solar Tools USA.
After discovering that a damaged connector was keeping one of his solar modules from reliably powering an EcoFlow solar generator, Emmitt repairs the module and demonstrates how the S**T helps create a secure, properly torqued connector assembly.
You’ll see how the tool:
• Works with Stäubli MC4 and Amphenol H4 connectors
• Helps prevent over-tightening
• Indicates when the proper torque has been reached
• Checks whether the connector contact is seated at the proper depth
• Uses magnets to keep both tool pieces together
• Fits into a belt-mounted holder for convenient field use
• Replaces the frustration of dealing with small plastic connector wrenches
The torque-limited version is especially useful for installers, technicians, trainers, and O&M professionals who want more consistent connector assembly in the shop or field
