🌧️ WELL... MOTHER NATURE WINS THIS ROUND. 🌧️
After about four inches of rain already and more expected today and Sunday, we've made the call to postpone the full Edge of Liberty Craft Fair scheduled for tomorrow, September 20, until next Sunday, September 27.

Our fairs are rain or shine — and normally we mean it. ☔ But this time the problem isn't just what's falling out of the sky tomorrow. Our vendor market is on grass, and after this much rain, putting a full fair onto saturated ground would tear up the property.
But that doesn't mean we're completely closed tomorrow.

🌻 The Farm Stand will still be open.

🥖🍪🍅 We're also talking with our vendors who have already baked, harvested or prepared perishable inventory. We're working on a small rain-friendly setup using covered areas and the parking lot so they still have an opportunity to sell — and so those of you who come here looking specifically for your favorite bread, baked goods, produce and other goodies can still find them.

🎶 There will be no live music or karaoke tomorrow.

We'll update this post with exactly which vendors will be here Sunday and what you'll be able to find.

Then we'll dust ourselves off, dry ourselves out and do the whole thing properly:

So naturally, we added habaneros.

It starts out sweet and peachy, then the habanero shows up to remind you that Batsh*t Crazy Farms made it.

🍅🐔 MONDAY PRODUCE RESCUE — TODAY 9–5

We have produce left from yesterday’s farm stand, and we’d rather see our neighbors eat it than our chickens.

Stop by and take what you’ll use. 𝗣𝗮𝘆 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗼. No need to ask what something costs or explain what you can afford.

It’s completely self-serve with a cash honor box — nobody will be there to check you out.

This is Sunday-leftover produce, so look things over and choose what works for you.

Sunday shoppers get first pick of the fresh-picked harvest. Monday keeps good food from going to waste.

Both days, it’s organically grown, local produce from our farm.

Blueberry Fest is this weekend. Blueberry season, however, did not get the memo. 😂🫐

The fresh local blueberries are pretty much done for the year — but we already stuffed ours into jars.

So if you’d rather skip the crowds and get your blueberry fix from blueberries that were actually grown right here, come see us at The Edge of Liberty today.

🫐 Blueberry Jam — thick, spreadable, blueberry goodness
🫐 Blueberry Ice Cream Topping — deliberately a little looser, because pancakes, waffles, ice cream and cheesecake deserve nice things
🍐 And since the Asian pear trees apparently took “produce” as a personal challenge, there’s Asian Pear Butter, too.

No festival parking. No hunting for a shuttle. No pretending blueberry-flavored everything is the same thing as local blueberries.

Just a little farm, local fruit, homemade jars, and a bunch of local makers hanging out until 3 PM today.

Blueberry season may be over. We planned ahead. 😏🫐

☀️ No Labor Day weekend plans? We can fix that.

Gorgeous weather. Local makers. Live music. A picnic on the farm. Fish feeding. Karaoke. And absolutely no admission fee. Come spend your Sunday at The Edge of Liberty — we’re here 10–3 today!

For once, the weather requires almost no fine print. We’ll be around 72° when we open at 10, warming to about 78° this afternoon, with sunshine, a light breeze and rain chances that drop from a whopping 1% to 0%.

After the summer Mother Nature has given us, we are choosing to accept this gift without asking too many questions.

We’ve got local makers to discover, the farm stand and walking trails to explore, live music, fish feeding at 1, and karaoke afterward.

Labor Day weekend is always a bit of a wild card — some people head out of town while everyone who stays home starts wondering what there is to do.

And if The Sunday Vibe Market has been part of your summer Sundays, we’re sorry to see their season come to an early end. They gave local makers and shoppers another great reason to get out on Sundays, and that’s good for all of us.

The good news is Sunday market season isn’t over yet. If you’re looking for a new Sunday stop, we’d love to welcome you to The Edge of Liberty. We plan to keep going every other Sunday all the way through Halloween weekend, with local makers, the farm stand, music, fish feeding and plenty of room to wander.

So come meet us today — and maybe find a new Sunday tradition for the rest of fall.

We’re just north of Valpo, close enough to be an easy Sunday outing but far enough out to feel like you went somewhere.
