🏐 Falcons Supporting Falcons! ❤️🖤

Middle School Volleyball Coach Mrs. Reker teamed up with High School Volleyball Coach Mr. Wald to create something pretty special.

High school volleyball athletes took time to write words of encouragement and support to our middle school volleyball girls—reminding them that they are part of something bigger than just the team they play on today.

That’s the Falcon Way: older athletes investing in younger athletes, building confidence, and reminding each other that someone is always in your corner.

Our 6th graders are diving into Ancient Mesopotamia using the GRAPES strategy—Geography, Religion, Achievements, Politics, Economics, and Social Structure. 🍇

Students are sorting facts into each category to better understand how the pieces of a civilization fit together. A great way to organize information, make connections, and build a deeper understanding of history!

ELA students jumped into a conversation today that had no easy answers.

They responded to statements about peer groups, economic background, adults understanding teenagers, and what makes a family—then practiced the even harder skill of disagreeing respectfully.

Standing up for what you believe matters. So does listening when someone sees it differently.

That’s ELA beyond the textbook: finding your voice, listening to others, and learning how to have meaningful conversations.

🧬 DNA → RNA → Models!

Our students are taking what can feel like an abstract process and making it visible!

Today, students worked through DNA replication and the process of creating RNA, using models to show how the pieces fit together. They weren’t just memorizing steps—they were building, discussing, testing, and explaining the process. 🧬🔬

Today was about grading—but not just grades. Our DC West team spent time digging into grading practices, reflection, and the journey toward making learning more meaningful for every student. Great conversations, honest questions, and a willingness to keep growing together.
