Valley Stream Central High School District THIS IS THE OFFICIAL FACEBOOK PAGE. THE DISTRICT RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REMOVE ANY POSTS The four buildings are located on approximately 58 acres of land.

The Valley Stream Central High School District is one of only three New York State Districts covering grades 7-12 exclusively. The District operates one junior high school for grades 7-9 (Memorial Junior High School); one senior high school for grades 10-12 (Central High School); and two combined junior and senior high schools for grades 7 -12 (North High School and South High School). Students enter the District's secondary schools after graduation from one of the 10 schools maintained by Elementary Districts Thirteen, Twenty-four and Thirty--whose combined outer boundaries are coterminous with the boundary of the High School District. In addition to the major portion of the Villages of Valley Stream and most of North Valley Stream, the District also consists of parts of Elmont, Franklin Square, Lynbrook and Malverne. Approximately 4,600 students in grades 7 through 12 are enrolled in our schools and are served by a professional staff of over 450 teachers, specialists, administrators, social workers and registered nurses.

South's Girls Inc. held its first meeting of the year this week! The girls worked together to set ground rules for the year, writing their ideas on sticky notes and combining them into one shared chart. They also made "paper plate masks," answering personality questions like "Would you rather be a leader or a follower?" and decorating the other side of the plate to show who they are. Students in Ms. Díaz y Díaz and Mr. Nocella's College Classes recently took part in mock college interviews in the school library, answering questions in Spanish as if they were applying to a university in Spain. Dressed professionally, students put the advanced Spanish they have been learning in class to use while practicing the confidence and communication skills they will need for real college interviews. Thank you to the language teachers from Memorial Jr. High and Central High School, Librarian Mrs. Ayuso, and Assistant Principal Mr. Rengifo for playing the university representatives.

Memorial’s Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Department visited our 7th grade math classes to welcome our newest students and help set them up for a successful school year! Through interactive push-in lessons, students learned how to access the school's Counseling Center, check their grades, utilize academic resources, and develop strategies for managing stress. It was a wonderful opportunity for our 7th graders to connect with the PPS team, ask questions, and learn about the many resources available to support them throughout their time at Memorial!

Congratulations to Valley Stream North senior Jerry Thomas, who was named Newsday's Athlete of the Week! Jerry rushed for 191 yards and two touchdowns on just five carries, including the go-ahead 46-yard score in the fourth quarter of the Spartans' 41-27 win over Carle Place. Off the field, he also mentors younger students through Athletes Helping Athletes. Great work, Jerry, and go Spartans!

Students in Mrs. Diaz’s Geometry class at Memorial put their math skills to the test with a fun Double Dice game! Students practiced their geometry vocabulary while adding a little excitement and friendly competition to their review. Memorial's Food Drive was a HUGE success! Over the past three weeks, the school community came together in partnership with the Valley Stream Chamber of Commerce to collect food for four local organizations: Holy Name of Mary, Blessed Sacrament, House of Hope, and Long Island Cares. A little friendly competition among the 7th grade teams helped collect an incredible 2,265 food items! Congratulations to Team Black for taking home the win! A huge thank you to Ms. Hynes for organizing the food drive and team competition, and to all of the students, families, and staff who contributed! What an amazing way to bring the Memorial community together and make a difference for those in need!

This Monday October 5th, our students at South High School celebrated National Stomp Out Bullying Day, also called World Day of Bullying Prevention® by participating in the national movement. Students and staff wore blue to show their commitment to creating a school community built on kindness, respect, inclusion, and empathy. Throughout the day, students were reminded of the important role they play in being upstanders, supporting their peers, and helping to ensure that everyone feels safe, valued, and welcome at school. Posters, inspirational quotes, and music organized by the Character Education Team helped raise awareness and reinforce the message that everyone has a role in preventing bullying and fostering a positive school climate.
