Missouri voters showed up in a big way to reject Amendments 4 and 5! By voting NO, our communities stood up for public education, protected vital state funding for our classrooms, and made sure every voter's voice continues to count equally.

Thank you to every educator, parent, neighbor, and voter who researched the issues, talked to their friends, and made it to the polls today. This victory proves what we can accomplish when we come together for our kids. 🎒✏️

Remember: Democracy doesn't end on Primary Day. School board elections, local bond issues, and municipal votes happen every year and every single one directly impacts our schools and neighborhood. Keep this same energy, stay engaged, and let's keep showing up for our public schools in every election! 🗳️💪

RNEA President Thomas Cook spoke on behalf of the Rockwood NEA in opposition to Amendment 5 at the July 17th Board of Education meeting.

Missouri educators are deeply concerned that Amendment 5 could reduce long-term funding for public education by allowing major changes to the state's tax structure without another vote of the people. At a time when our schools are already facing funding challenges, we should be strengthening our investment in public education, not creating more uncertainty.

In his comments, he asked the Board to stand with educators, families, and our community by opposing Amendment 5, informing the public about its potential impact, and continuing to advocate for strong, well-funded public schools.
