The MVP of the homestead currently...Mr Hank is not only the sweetest boy, he is a vigilant guardian all night long!

We hear coyotes daily, and have seen them regularly, on our land, in the daylight! But we haven't lost any chickens to predators because he roams and barks and keeps them away.

Here he is at dusk, settling into his post as the last bit of daylight trickles away.

He is just over a year and has had no training - it's just a great breed and their God-given instincts to patrol their land and defend their territory.

With more chickens we have an abundance of breakfast eggs, so yay for making homemade pasta again!

I've tried maybe a handful of times before and they always looked "rustic". But these turned out so well!

Sauce was from the store, sausage was from having brats over the weekend and basil is about the only thing growing in my garden, so lil dude helped me harvest and chop and sprinkle that in.
