Today marks the 3rd year since the passing of our beloved Great Grand Master. The impact he had on so many lives is immeasurable. He made his splash, and we are all his ripple effect.

Recently six members of the Bautista Kajukenbo Self-Defense Institute of Vallejo under the direction of Grand Master Rob Peladeau attended a 2-day Martial Art Tournament and Seminar in Las Vegas, Nevada and brought home 29 trophies including 7 Grand Champion trophies.

Hanale Wilson won a Grand Champion trophy and a 1st place medal in the adult men’s age 18 and above knife fighting division and and a 2nd place in the adult Kaju/Escrima stick fighting division. Fellow student Harry Sama brought home a Grand Champion trophy and 1st place medal in the Kaju/Escrima adult men’s age 18 and above division. He placed 2nd in knife-fighting adult men’s 18 and above, a 2nd place medal in the live stick adult men’s 18 and above division, a 2nd place in the men’s adult 18 and above self-defense division and a 3rd place medal in men’s 18 and above forms division, for a total of 6 trophies.

John Hall took home a Grand Champion trophy and a 1st place medal in the double padded stick boys 11 to 13 division, also a 2nd place in the single padded stick boys 11 to 13, a 1st place sparring boys 11 to 13 category and a 3rd place in the boys 11 to 13 self-defense division, for a total of 5 trophies. Chaisen Gonzales beat out 9 other competitors in 2 different Grand Champion divisions, the first Grand Champion was for boys ages 14 to 17 Kaju/Escrima stick fighting division and the second Grand Champion for boys 14 to 17 point sparring division. He also won 1st place for boys 14 to 17 Kaju/Escrima stick fighting and 1st for 14 to 17 point sparring division. He placed 3rd in 14 to 17 point sparring division, and 3rd in 14 to 17 self-defense category for a total of 6 trophies.

Akaiden Henderson won a Grand Champion trophy and a 1st place in the boys 8 to 12 years in the padded stick fighting division and a 2nd place in the boys 8 to 12 continuous sparring category. Brother, Colby Henderson, brought home a Grand Champion and a 1st place in the padded stick 11 to 13 boys intermediate division, a 2nd in the point sparring ages 11 to 13 boys, a 2nd in continuous live stick and a 3rd in the boys ages 11 to 13 point sparring division for a total of 5 medals. Joseph McDevitt won a 2nd place in the boys ages 8 to 12 padded stick division.

Congratulations to Professor Lasalo, Sifu Vinny & sudent Harry for doing an outstanding performance at the KSDI Tournament in Las Vegas on July 22. Sifu Vinny took home 2 first place trophies in stick & knife fighting. Harry took home 1st & 3rd place trophies. Awesome job on representing the 974 Benicia Rd. KSDI School.
