Hi everyone,

I want to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who helped make our “Being Bilingual Is a Superpower” Reclassification Ceremony such a special evening.

Last night was more than a ceremony. It was a reminder of why we do what we do.

Seeing our students walk across the stage with pride, hearing families cheer for their children, and having our community come together to celebrate multilingualism was incredibly meaningful. Reclassification represents years of learning, perseverance, growth, and partnership between our students, families, teachers, and staff.

There were so many beautiful moments throughout the evening, but I especially want to share the speech from one of our graduates, João Victor Borges. His words capture the heart of what we hope our multilingual students understand: being bilingual truly is a superpower. Their languages, cultures, experiences, and identities are strengths they should carry proudly with them wherever they go.

I hope it brings you the same sense of pride and joy that it brought to all of us who had the opportunity to hear him speak last night.

To everyone who helped prepare students, supported families, organized materials, showed up, stepped in where needed, celebrated our students, or simply helped make the evening possible — thank you. Events like this do not happen because of one person. They happen because a community believes our students deserve to be seen, recognized, and celebrated.

Last night was a beautiful reminder that the work we do every day matters. This is our why!
