Founded in 1860, New York Medical College (NYMC) is one of the oldest and largest private health sciences colleges in the United States with more than 1,400 students, 1,300 residents and clinical fellows, nearly 3,000 faculty members, and 16,000 living alumni. NYMC is the leading academic and biomedical research college between New York City and the state capital of Albany, New York. NYMC, which joined the Touro College and University System in 2011, is located in Valhalla, NY, in Westchester County in the picturesque lower Hudson Valley region of New York State just 30 minutes north of midtown Manhattan, New York City. NYMC offers advanced degrees from the School of Medicine, the Graduate School of Basic Medical Sciences, and the School of Health Sciences and Practice. celebrated a $10 million award with the Uniformed Services University to advance battlefield and civilian tactical medical care.

The event featured remarks from Congressman Mike Lawler, who helped secure the funding, along with Touro University and NYMC President Dr. Alan Kadish, NYMC Chancellor and CEO Dr. Edward Halperin, Vice President of Government Affairs Dr. Robert Amler, and Director of the NYMC Center for Disaster Medicine at New York Medical College, Dr. David Markenson.

Together, this three-year initiative will develop innovative treatment protocols, emergency response tools and immersive VR/AR training to help military and civilian responders deliver lifesaving care in austere and high-risk environments.

’s Environmental Health and Safety Department teamed up with NYMC School of Health Sciences and Practice, Center for Disaster Medicine at New York Medical College, and the OSMHW for the 3rd annual Emergency Preparedness & Fire Safety Event.

Participants got hands-on experience with essential emergency readiness tools, including fire extinguishers, AEDs and eyewash stations—and learned skills that can make a difference when every second counts. 🧯🩺
