Over the summer, Valhalla has seen progress on the 2023 capital project! We are looking forward to our community members using these spaces upon completion.

"We are all excited to soon have completed and functional new facilities," said Valhalla's Director of Facilities Jonathan Gross. "The addition of a brand-new fitness center will allow our sports teams and students to use state-of-the-art equipment in a safe and clean environment. The new bathrooms will provide convenience close to Viking stadium for staff members, students and visitors. The library at Virginia Road has undergone a huge transformation and will serve students for years to come."

Who loves bubbles? Virginia Road School students! At the end of the school year, The Bubble Bus visited our campus, bringing joy, cheer and plenty of giggles.

TOMORROW: Final “Walk/Jog with our Superintendent” of the Summer!

Our final "Walk/Jog with our Superintendent" of the summer is tomorrow - Wednesday, Aug. 19! Join us at Viking Stadium at 7 a.m. for some exercise and a discussion with Dr. McLeod!

We appreciate everyone who has joined us over the past few months. Thank you for helping to create a community-centered environment and engaging in our 2026-27 theme of "Potential and Progress."

If you've not yet joined us throughout the summer, this is your chance! All community members - students, parents, staff members, alumni, empty-nesters, business owners, etc. - are welcome to participate.

We look forward to seeing you tomorrow morning for the final event!

Congratulations to Valhalla Baseball's Connor Hayes (VHS Class of 2026) for earning more accolades! He was honored with First Team All-State for Class B.

Connor will continue his sports career at Molloy University next month!

When the 2026-27 school year starts, a new face will greet students in the hallways. The Valhalla Union Free School District has hired educator Justine Shewbarran as Valhalla High School’s new assistant principal.

Ms. Shewbarran began working in Valhalla on Aug. 17, replacing former assistant principal Andrew McIntosh. Ms. Shewbarran joins the VHS administrative team alongside Principal Kristen Sautner.

“Valhalla has a strong sense of community,” said Ms. Shewbarran. “It is dedicated to student success and collaboration to ensure that students are thriving. Having everyone involved is so important. I’m excited to be here and to get to know our students, families and staff members, and working toward ensuring that all students are successful and comfortable coming to school.”
