🎹♥️ “Would you like to hear another one?” ♥️🎹
This morning, a young piano student arrived about 20 minutes early for his lesson.
His teacher hadn't arrived yet, so I noticed him going in and out of the front door. I walked over and told him it was ok to come inside and practice while he waited.
A few moments later, he quietly peeked into my classroom and asked:
“Is it okay if I play you an Ed Sheeran song from my Rock Book?”
Aww... 🥹
“Of course! I'd love to hear it!”
He sat down at the white piano, opened his book, and began to play with the sweetest, gentlest touch. Every so often he would glance up to make sure I was watching and listening.
I was. Completely. ♥️
When he finished, I clapped, and a huge smile spread across his face.
Then he asked:
“Would you like to hear another song from my other book?”
And another.
And another.
Before we knew it, he had played seven songs from three different books. He proudly showed me the pieces he'll be performing at next weekend's recital and pointed out that he's almost finished with his current level.
Of course, I was especially excited when he played one of my favorites:
🎃 Pumpkin Boogie! 🎃
Those fifteen minutes were such a gift.
Sometimes we think music lessons are only about learning notes, rhythms, and technique. But moments like this remind me they're also about connection, being in the moment together, and celebrating the hard work that happens between lessons.
This young musician didn't just want to play the piano.
He wanted someone to hear and share his music.
And this morning, I was grateful to be that person. ♥️🎶

♥️ “I feel like it’s my friend.” ♥️
A young harp student recently came to Little School of Music for our Intro Program. She had been taking piano lessons for about a year and wanted to explore the harp as a second instrument.
Near the end of her second lesson, I asked her how she felt about playing the harp.
Her answer stopped me in my tracks:
“I feel like it’s my friend.” ✨
Awwww… ♥️
Not “It sounds pretty.”
Not “It’s fun.”
Not “I’m good at it.”
Her friend.
She felt connected to it. Comfortable with it. Like she could speak to it and through it.
Musical instruments are so much more than tools for making music. They become an extension of our selves, our body, our thoughts, our character, and our emotions. They hold stories just as much as the musicians who play them. 🎹🎻🎺🎸🎵
Watching a student discover that connection is one of the most beautiful parts of teaching.
We’re so excited to see where this new friendship leads. ♥️✨

🏆✨ And the award goes to… our AMAZING Music Movie Stars! ✨🎬
One of the highlights of our Little School of Music Movie Premiere was celebrating our students with these fun Emmy-style awards! 🍿🌟
After creating their own music videos, walking the red carpet, and seeing themselves featured on the big screen, our students were SO excited to be recognized and celebrated for their creativity, musicianship, and hard work. 🎥🎶🎹
Moments like these remind us that music education is about so much more than learning notes and rhythms, it’s about building confidence, creativity, expression, and memories that last a lifetime. ♥️
A huge thank you to our wonderful families, teachers Justin and Jean, and to Regal Cinema for helping make this experience so special.
Judging by the smiles, excitement, and audience reaction… we may have started a new LSM tradition! 😉🍿🏆
