Senior Spotlight: Joel Priesz

Joel has been involved in both choir and tennis at Valencia for four years, growing into leadership roles as Varsity Tennis captain and Choir President. Through athletics and the performing arts, Joel found close friendships, learned the value of teamwork and dedication, and discovered that there is a place for everyone at Valencia.

His favorite high school memory was traveling to France with choir, especially singing for D-Day veterans in Normandy and seeing the impact the performance had on them. Joel would like to thank Mrs. Mocha for supporting him throughout high school and helping him grow into the person he is today.

Joel’s advice for the Class of 2027: “You should be yourself and not let pressure from others keep you from doing what you genuinely care about. If that is music and sports, go for it.”

Senior Spotlight: Belos Schubert

Belos has been involved in choir all four years at VHS, finding joy, passion, and community through music. Choir became a place where Belos could work with friends, grow as a musician, and be part of something meaningful every year.

One of Belos’ favorite memories was conducting “Revelation” at the final concert after loving the song for years. The moment felt like the culmination of years of hard work and brought a deep sense of pride. Belos would also like to thank Jamie and Diane, two lunch staff members who became a highlight of each day.

Belos’ advice for the Class of 2027: “Live in the present. That’s the most important thing to me. Youll regret and future trip always, but to take a breath and see the world *right now* is something most people struggle to do.

And love yourself. Youre going to make mistakes and fail, but to accept yourself and forgive yourself is important.”

On Thursday, Elle Michelson (along with fellow students) performed an original score, composed by Elle, for her history teacher Coach Muir called “Ode to Muir.”

Another amazing example of the unbelievably talented students on our campus! A fitting tribute to one of our longest-tenured Viking teachers.🤘
