As we prepare for the 2026–2027 school year, Lowndes County Schools would like to make families aware of an important update to the 2026–2027 Student & Parent Handbook.

Electronic smoking devices containing THC or other controlled substances are addressed under Rule 7, Drugs, Except Alcohol and To***co. All other electronic smoking devices used to deliver ni****ne or other substances intended for human consumption through v***r or aerosol inhalation are addressed under Rule 42, Electronic Smoking Device.

All electronic smoking devices remain prohibited on any Lowndes County School property. The handbook has been updated for the 2026–2027 school year to clarify that violations of Rule 7 involving the possession, use, sale, or distribution of devices containing THC or other controlled substances, as well as three or more violations of Rule 42 Electronic Smoking Device within a single school year, may result in more serious disciplinary consequences, including referral to law enforcement and possible criminal charges.
We encourage families to review the updated handbook carefully with their students to ensure they understand the expectations and possible consequences.

Summer meals are back for Summer 2026! ☀️🍎

Lowndes County Schools will offer free breakfast and lunch to children 18 and under at Lowndes High School from June 1 – July 30, Monday through Thursday.

📍Breakfast: 8:00–8:45 a.m.
📍Lunch: 11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.

Please note: Meals must be consumed on site.

We are proud to help support our students and families all summer long.

This weekend some of our special Olympic track athletes competed at Special Olympics Georgia State Summer Games at Emory University! Our Vikings are headed home with gold medals, receiving the following awards:

Logan Schild: 1st place in the 1 mile run, 2nd place in the running long jump
Skyler Hardman: 1st place turbo javelin, 4th place 100m dash
Ashton King: 1st place shot put, 4th place 100m dash
Erika Harding: 1st place softball throw, 2nd place 50m Dash

Today, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. As a school system serving nearly 1,000 military-connected families, we are especially grateful for the sacrifices made by so many.
