Passport Operations in Response to COVID-19 06/23/2021

Hello everyone!

As a heads up, if anyone is planning to travel this year or next year, currently the Passport Operations are considerably delayed in issuing passports.

Thus, in the past it may have taken a couple of weeks or even days, now, it will take up to 18 weeks or longer.

So, been thinking about getting a passport? Now is a great time to get one. :)

Passport Operations in Response to COVID-19 Our processing times (up to 12 weeks for routine; up to 6 weeks for expedite) do not include mailing times. Mail times vary and delays have been significant. Plan ahead.

And today with Global Learning Fest we have a Walking Tour in Paris at 12 pm, and then at 3 pm we will go to Costa Rica and talk about Ecology & Wildlife. Hope to see you guys there!!

We have another free, virtual seminar the U.S. Study Abroad and Gilman Program are hosting!

USA Study Abroad, part of the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA), and its Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program are pleased to invite Gilman Scholars and alumni along with any interested American undergraduate and graduate students from all fields of study and backgrounds to attend a new free virtual Inside U.S. Foreign Policy series and gain an inside look at how the State Department designs and implements U.S. foreign policy around the world. Current American recipients and alumni of the State Department's Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program and other ECA exchange programs are also invited to attend.

Through six seminars, each focused on a specific world region, participants will learn directly from civil and foreign service officers about:

* the State Department's foreign policy goals for that region,
* how offices in Washington., D.C. and U.S. embassies and consulates overseas work to further these goals, and
* how this work impacts Americans.

Each seminar will also include a panel of Gilman alumni working in the region, who will discuss their careers, and a breakout networking session. The seminars will last three hours each and be followed by an optional 30-minute informational session on a variety of careers within the U.S. State Department.
