Valdosta Middle School Band

Today the VMS Jazz Ensemble was the featured middle school jazz band at the 46th Annual ABAC Jazz Festival. Students were able to listen to several high school jazz bands, receive a masterclass from the Joe Grandsden Quartet and eat like a college student in the state-of-the-art dining facilities! We are thankful for the invitation and look forward to returning next year!

Outstanding job and congratulations to the Valdosta Middle School 7th Grade Concert Band and 8th Grade Symphonic Band students for receiving the top ratings at the Georgia Music Educators Association Large Group Performance Evaluation in Jesup, GA. We are extremely proud of the hard work and dedication displayed by our students and look forward to continued growth.

On Saturday, February 21, 2026 Valdosta Middle School Band had students participate in the 2026 Georgia Music Educators Association District 8 Middle School Honor Band held at Ware County High School. These students auditioned and were selected to participate in this prestigious event which culminated with a spectacular concert performance. Congratulations to these students for representing VMS.

The Valdosta Middle School Band has been hard at work this semester. On January 24, we hosted our Symphonic and Concert Camp where we brought in sectional coaches for each instrument and our very own Valdosta High School Director of Bands, Travis Kimber, served as guest Clinician. This week we brought in Valdosta State University’s newly appointed Director of Bands, Dr. Patrick Forrester as well as GMEA District 8 Music Educator of the Year and Band Director at Ware County Middle, Zach Williams. We are so blessed to have such an amazing network of music educators to provide the best experience for our students.
