San Antonio was an incredible experience for our VMS team!
Mrs. Mortensen, Mrs. Lewis, and Mrs. Berglund traveled west alongside fellow educators from across Valdosta City Schools to attend the PLC Solution Tree Summer Institute in San Antonio, TX that welcomed educators from across the United States and beyond.
Over several days filled with learning, collaboration, laughter, and meaningful conversations, VCS teachers and staff had the opportunity to connect with educators from all over the nation through engaging breakout sessions and professional learning opportunities. While we gained valuable ideas and instructional strategies from conference presentations, some of the most rewarding moments came from strengthening relationships with colleagues across our district and learning from one another.
We are grateful for the opportunity to represent VMS, grow alongside our VCS family, and bring back fresh ideas that will help us continue providing the very best for our students.
As an added bonus, we happened to be in San Antonio while the Spurs were celebrating an NBA Finals win! The excitement throughout the city made for an unforgettable experience and was the perfect way to cap off an amazing week!

As we look back on the final days of the 2025-2026 school year, weβre grateful for opportunities like this one that helped our 8th grade students start thinking about their future beyond VMS.
Mock Trial Coach Sam Dennis and VHS Mock Trial Captain Souad Dennis (VHS C/O 27) visited our STEM-8 students to share information about the Mock Trial program at Valdosta High School. Students learned about the team, explored what participation involves, and enjoyed an engaging presentation along the way.
Thank you to Coach Sam Dennis and Souad for taking the time to invest in our students and introduce them to another exciting opportunity waiting for them at VHS.
The verdict? Our Wildcats are ready for what comes next. βοΈπΎ

The Valdosta Middle School family mourns the passing of former social studies teacher Mr. Roger Rome.
Mr. Rome was loved and respected by generations of students and colleagues for his passion for history and the incredible knowledge he shared in and out of the classroom. His enthusiasm for teaching made a lasting impact on our school community, and he will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
