OUR PHILOSOPHY & VALUES
We view camp as a unique opportunity for children to experience fun and exciting activities that they may not normally have access to. We strive to provide a physically and emotionally safe environment that serves as a backdrop for social, intellectual, and creative growth. Our staff actively creates an atmosphere that engenders a sense of belonging in participants. Youth will have the opportunity to make lasting friendships, try new activities, explore nature, and more.
We value fun, enthusiasm, discovery, integrity, civility, and citizenship.

Valdosta State University’s Davy Shaw was recently featured in Campus Rec Magazine’s “Successful Summer Camp Strategies,” a story about higher education’s efforts to relaunch summer programs for community youth following the global health crisis known as COVID-19.
Shaw serves as coordinator of VSU's Center for Outdoor Recreational Experiences and Campus Recreation. He joined the VSU staff nearly seven years ago.
When asked what he enjoys most about the work he does each day at VSU, he replied, “I like knowing that I have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the VSU community through outdoor and recreation-based adventures.”
Shaw said VSU Campus Recreation will once again offer six weeks of Youth Day Camp programming this summer. Information about the weekly activities should be posted to https://www.valdosta.edu/student/rec-wellness/campus-recreation/ by mid-February, with registration opening on April 1. 🔥
