Are there meetings and if so, what is discussed? We meet once a month to discuss upcoming events and receive updates. Administration also shares important school information. It’s also a great opportunity to provide input and/or feedback regarding PTO sponsored activities. Do I have to go to the meetings to be a part of the PTO? No! While attending meetings is helpful to stay up-to-date on the info, it is not a requirement. You can absolutely serve on a committee or volunteer for a project or at an event without coming to the normal meetings. Additionally, if a different meeting time is needed that would be better for others’ schedules, we can make the necessary accommodations/adjustments. Ways to sign up. Listed below are the different committees and responsibilities that we have within the PTO. If you have any questions or concerns. Or just want to reach out with some exciting ideas, please don’t hesitate to reach out via email or FB Messager. Recruiting Committee- This committee helps in recruiting new members to join PTO. Yearbook Committee – This committee meets separately from the main meetings that we have each month. Each member will take turns going to different events and activities at the school to take pictures. Towards the end of the first semester the committee meets together to pick out the design and other details for the yearbook for that year. When we come back from winter break, we will meet again to put the yearbook together. Spirt Store- During football season our school spirit store is open every Friday from 7:00 am until 7:40 am. After football season its open one Friday a month (same time). Volunteers will help set up and close up . Honor Roll- Sallas Mahone has 4) 9 week grading periods. Every 9 weeks we try to treat our Honor Roll students with something nice. We’ve done several things in the past (Kona Ice, The Mix, Cupcakes, Pizza, ECT.). We are always looking for fresh new ideas on things to do for the students! Volunteers will help with set up/cleanup and distributing whatever goodies we decide to treat the students with. Fall/Winter Carnival- Each year we have a Carnival either in the Winter or the Fall. There are several things that go into planning, preparing, and hosting this carnival. This committee will plan all the different activities, games, foods and raffles. We will also coordinate set up and clean up. School Fundraisers- We have 2 to 4 fundraisers a year. We have our big fundraiser that begins at the beginning of the school year. This is the fundraiser were students take home brochures to sell things to family and friends. Volunteers are needed for when the purchased items come in and need to be distributed to students. We also have our Spirit Shirt fundraiser at the beginning of the school year as well. In February, we have Valentines Raffle baskets and our Valentine hearts( these are paper hearts that students can put their name on, or someone else’s ,then the hearts go on the media center window for everyone to see). In March, we have our Penny War, its our newest fundraiser and we really love it! We also may have another fundraiser towards the end of the year
Teacher Appreciation- Teacher appreciation is at the beginning of May. We usually decorate the teachers lounge, treat the teachers to lunch, breakfast and snacks on a few or on all of the days for that week .We will need volunteers to help decorate the school for our teachers, set up and clean up on each of the days that we treat our teachers.

For those who placed yearbook orders for the 2022-2023 school year:
Thank you! The orders have been collected, compiled and sent to the company. Because of a 5 week print/shipping window, we anticipate having them ready for distribution by early July. You will receive notification when they are ready for pickup at the front office. Feel free to share this info!
Thank you for your support!

The 2021-2022 yearbook is at print. Those who ordered will be notified about pick up. Included in the 2021-2022 yearbook order will be a discount code for this year's 22-23 yearbook. This volunteer based effort took far more this past year than initially anticipated, and as a very small group of volunteers, we are striving to do the best we can.
Speaking of yearbooks, the 22-23 yearbook is underway. More information about that will be coming out once we have details to share. Thank you for your patience.
Lastly, the PTO is always looking for family members who can be active participants and provide leadership within this volunteer organization. Please reach out if you would like to volunteer your time, talent, and/or treasure.
‼️Attention Parents‼️
We cannot wait to see our 5th grade students dress up as an idiom on Mon., Oct. 31st to reinforce their learning about figurative language.
