Blazer Alumni Spotlight: Dr. Gregory Tanner '94

We’re proud to spotlight Dr. Gregory M. Tanner, a 1994 graduate of Valdosta State University, where he earned master’s degrees in Physical Education and Educational Leadership.

Dr. Tanner was recently named President of South Georgia State College by the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia. Throughout his career, he has served as a teacher, coach, principal, superintendent, and higher education administrator, demonstrating a longstanding commitment to student success and educational excellence across South Georgia.

We love seeing Blazers leading and making a difference in education and their communities. Congratulations, Dr. Tanner, on this outstanding achievement!

Welcome to the world Tripp Michael Williams, our newest Blazer Baby! 🔥👶

Born to proud parents Brock and Taylor Williams, this little one is already part of the Blazer family legacy. Brock earned his business degree at Valdosta State University, and Taylor crossed the stage with her education degree this May—perfectly timed to welcome their newest addition.

We’re proud to honor our partnership with VSU by highlighting born at SGMC Health. ❤️🖤

Blazer Alumni Spotlight: Felecia Pryor ’98

We’re proud to spotlight Felecia Pryor, a 1998 graduate of the College of Arts and Sciences with a degree in Criminal Justice.

Felecia currently serves as Senior Vice President & Chief People Officer at John Deere, where she oversees the company’s human resources, labor relations, enterprise security, aviation, and brand and communications functions as a member of the senior management team.

Throughout her accomplished career, Felecia has held leadership roles with major global companies including BorgWarner and Ford Motor Company, with experience spanning talent development, employee engagement, labor relations, and international leadership assignments in both Thailand and China. In addition to her VSU degree, she also earned a master’s degree in public administration and a law degree and is licensed to practice law in Michigan.

We love seeing Blazers leading at the highest levels and making an impact across industries worldwide. Congratulations, Felecia!

Today, we celebrate an incredible Blazer whose impact on Valdosta State University will be felt for generations.

After more than 35 years as both a proud VSU alumnus and dedicated university leader, Blake Pearce will retire on August 1.

Throughout his career, Blake has served VSU in many capacities, from faculty member and department head to dean, fundraiser, and university leader. No matter the role, his commitment to students, alumni, and the future of Valdosta State has never wavered.

Blake has been a champion for higher education, the arts, philanthropy, and the countless people who call VSU home. His leadership, mentorship, and unwavering dedication have helped shape the university and strengthen the Blazer community in meaningful ways.

On behalf of the VSU Alumni Association, thank you, Blake, for your extraordinary service, your passion for VSU, and your lasting legacy.

Please join us in congratulating Blake on his well-earned retirement and wishing him all the best in this next chapter.

VSU Alumni Relations extends its deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Bryce Adair. Bryce represented the very best of our Blazer community through his talent, dedication, and professional achievements. His legacy will continue to inspire fellow alumni and future generations of students.

Valdosta State University is saddened to learn of the passing of VSU alumnus Bryce Adair, a 2017 Mass Media graduate and Sports Emmy Award winner. Bryce was very involved as a student, and many of our faculty and staff remember him fondly. College of the Arts Dean Nicole Cox said, "His talent was evident, his smile was infectious, and his kindness resonated with everyone." Our deepest condolences go out to Bryce's family, friends, and colleagues at CBS.

Blazer Alumni Spotlight: Jacob Bell '20

We’re proud to spotlight Jacob Bell, a 2020 graduate of the Harley Langdale, Jr. College of Business Administration with a degree in Economics.

Jacob was recently named Market President for Ameris Bank’s Valdosta market, where he will help lead business development, commercial banking operations, and community partnerships across the region. In his role, he focuses on strengthening relationships, supporting growth, and serving both customers and the local community.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Jacob continues to stay actively involved at Valdosta State University as a member of the Alumni Board, reflecting his dedication to leadership and giving back to VSU.

We love seeing Blazers making an impact both professionally and in the communities they serve. Congratulations, Jacob!
