This is the story of Emilee Raines: After graduating from Valdosta State University with degrees in Accounting and Management, I began my career in South Georgia before relocating to Ohio to support my husbandâEUR(tm)s career. Starting over in a new state challenged me both personally and professionally, but it also created incredible opportunities for growth.

By age 23, I became Controller of Marion Technical College, assisting in the management of a million dollar budget and millions in grants and restricted funds. In addition to my higher education leadership role, I serve as a fractional CFO for small businesses and am currently pursuing my MBA in Finance with Tiffin University where I will finish this Fall.

My journey reflects the value of adaptability, hard work, and a willingness to embrace new opportunities. The foundation I received at VSU helped prepare me to lead with confidence and make an impact at a young age. I leaned heavily on my advisor and trusted her judgment the entire way through.

The Blazer Summer Research Institute begins June 9th! The BSRI is a funded experiential learning opportunity offering motivated faculty and undergraduate students a space to explore hands-on research.

Students, faculty, and staff: Would you like to borrow a poster carrying case for traveling to an academic or professional conference? Starting June 1, come by the temporary offices of the Terry Center (room 3103 in the north end of the University Center) to check one out!

USG’s Board of Regents has named Dr. Donald J. Green the next president of Valdosta State University. A proven leader who delivers results, Dr. Green most recently served at Gordon State College, where his focus on the student experience catalyzed enrollment growth and helped the college surpass many strategic objectives a year ahead of schedule. We’re excited to see him build on VSU’s momentum as South Georgia’s main economic engine. 🎉
