As we look toward the upcoming Fall semester, we want to look back on some great moments from Spring! One great moment was the 2026 Georgia Council of Graduate Schools (GCGS) Annual conference! Associate Provost for Graduate Studies and Research, Dr. da Cruz, was 2025-26 President of GCGS (now Past President), and VSU hosted the conference, April 16th - 17th.

We also want to highlight the VSU graduate student representative for the 3MT showcase, MMP student/alumnus Daniel Rodriguez, and VSU alum Dr. Javier González Gonzáles for being the keynote speaker! (Additional thanks to Graduate students for performing and for stopping by!) 🔥

Wyndham Drayton of Thomasville, Georgia, has been named Valdosta State University’s 2025-2026 Graduate Assistant of the Year. He joined the College of the Arts dean’s office as a graduate assistant in September 2025. Congratulations, Jeffrey! 🔥

The Georgia Association of Colleges and Employers recently honored Valdosta State University’s Jeffrey Pham with its 2025-2026 Jack Mangham Experiential Learning Award. He anticipates completing his Master of Business Administration with a concentration in marketing later this month. He previously earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing and Finance in 2025, graduating cm laude. Happy Summer! 🔥We wanted to share a Blazers alumni moment from one of our Graduate Faculty members, Dr. Ott:

“A little Blazer alumni moment. I am currently working with the Boston Crusaders DCI med team due to their nurse having an emergency. So, we were practicing today at Woodland High School in Stockton, GA. The head director, Desmond Tarplin, graduated with his master’s from VSU in music performance as well as Devin Driskell who teaches at a HS in Athens. They assisted us with some water needs. Blazers helping Blazers. They were awesome & as you can tell, proud to be a Blazer!”
