Our amazing Sallas Mahone educators just wrapped up an incredible 3-day professional learning journey at the Solution Tree PLC at Work Institute in San Antonio, Texas. This experience was filled with learning, collaboration, and planning for stronger student success.
One message stood out: "It is better to preplan than to replan." That idea reflects the heart of the Solution Tree PLC framework—working together with clear goals, shared responsibility, and purposeful planning so every student can thrive.
Our staff is excited to hear what was learned and see these ideas brought back to our classrooms. We’re proud of our teachers for investing in their growth and strengthening our school community!

Our phone lines are temporarily down. We expect them to be restored by the end of the day. If you need assistance before then, please come by the school or email us.
Thank you.

Ready for the first day? 🍎🥛🍕
Practicing lunchroom skills at home this summer can help children feel more independent and confident at school. Start with simple tasks like opening containers, managing milk cartons, and cleaning up after meals. Small skills today can lead to a successful start!

🏆 Beating the Odds!
Valdosta City Schools is proud to celebrate three schools that have been recognized by the Georgia Governor's Office of Student Achievement (GOSA) in its 2025 Beating the Odds Analysis:
⭐ Sallas Mahone Elementary School
⭐ Valdosta Middle School
⭐ Valdosta High School
The Beating the Odds designation recognizes schools whose academic performance exceeded that of similar schools across Georgia with comparable demographics and student populations. The analysis compares each school's actual College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) results to the performance that would be statistically expected based on factors such as poverty, student mobility, enrollment, and other demographic characteristics. Schools that outperform those expectations are recognized as "Beating the Odds."
"We congratulate the students, teachers, administrators, staff, and families of these schools for this outstanding achievement," said Dr. Craig Lockhart, Superintendent of Valdosta City Schools. "Their hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence continue to demonstrate that our Wildcats are capable of achieving great things."
Vision • Values • Victory. Go Cats!

** Ms. Wards' 4th Grade Class Celebrated a Special FaceTime!**
At the end of a wonderful year-long culminating project, Ms. Ward's 4th grade class had an exciting Google Meet with their pen pal class in Michigan! Students wrote letters back and forth all year, and it was so fun to finally see and chat with their friends face to face (or screen to screen)! They shared stories, asked questions, and learned more about each other. We’re so proud of this project and these new friendships!

What started as a Day of Giving project turned into a lesson in kindness that lasted all the way to the last day of school. 💛
Our fifth graders began by making cards and collecting items for Easter baskets that were donated to individuals with disabilities at ResCare Community Living. After putting the baskets together, we realized we still had extra goodies to share! On the last day of school, students delivered the leftover items to our kindergarten classes to spread even more joy across campus.

Fifth grade took on Atlanta! 🚌✨
From exploring the history inside the Georgia State Capitol, to diving into ocean adventures at the Georgia Aquarium, tasting our way through World of Coca-Cola, and ending the day wild at Zoo Atlanta — our students made memories that will last a lifetime! ❤️🐠🥤🦒
