Not too long ago, we were visiting family, and a family member was prepping a bottle for a calf. My daughter begged to help. What seemed like an ordinary chore turned into a memory for my daughter. I grew up doing this kind of stuff, so I didn’t think about this being such a big deal to her either. This is just your reminder that although you might see something as small, it can leave a big impact on others!

A couple of years ago, we completed an entire unit on pirates. This was an incredibly interesting study, because I realized even I based most of my “knowledge” of pirates on fictional tales! Visit Marie | Homeschool Resources & Lessons or type “pirate” in the comments for more info. https://thehomeschoolplatform.com/product/pirates-past-noon-and-pirates-fact-tracker-book-study/

I was thinking about this lately. Often as a teacher (or a parent) we give stipulations for interruptions, such as, “Don’t interrupt unless it’s an emergency.” How often, do we categorize things as “urgent”, that are not truly urgent? Now, I’m not talking about obedience. I’m referring to every day life. Sometimes the chore can wait, the text message doesn’t need instant reply, or the answer to a question can be delayed. We live in a world where we can get things so quickly, that we are often putting unnecessary pressures on ourselves.

I actually had this conversation with my daughter last night before bed. She’s getting older, and comments that are made by other people affect her more. It’s hard to not let people’s voiced opinions not bother us at times, but God’s opinion is truly the only one that matters. We cannot confuse scripture with manmade “norms” and ideas.

It’s so easy to fill your schedule these days. There are days we are all going different directions. Family game nights and adventures aren’t always easy to fit in, but we try to be intentional by blocking off time on our calendar. Try adding family time as a scheduled event on your calendar- you’ll thank me later. 😉

We love to go on family adventures, but in order to do that we’ve tried to find ways to spend less, so that we can have more adventures. A few things we do is buy groceries and cook on trips, take advantage of free activities, plan our meals out, and also plan an ice cream treat. We also camp a lot, so that we can visit places at a cheaper price. What things do you do to spend less?
