Wilderness Therapy for Young Adults: Expeditionary Learning & Adventure Filmmaking for therapeutic and personal/spiritual growth. Expeditionary Film School of Alaska the professional/intellectual property of Dr. DB Palmer EdD. For two decades I’ve been leading youth, young adults, and adults through wild and remote places. For two decades, I’ve guided the personal journey of aspiring leaders and troubled youth. The single-most common challenge that I’ve seen is in the difficulty for people to see themselves with clarity, as the main “character” in their story, and to grasp the immensity of their personal responsibility for their lives… past, present, and future. Life rarely happens “to” us, unless we let it. We are the hero in our story, and not every story ends well. There are no guarantees for a happy, prosperous life. In order for change to occur, for the story to become reality, we must act. Founded/directed by Dr. DB Palmer, who was previously the Lead Faculty & Assistant Professor of Outdoor Studies for the University of Alaska. Dr. Palmer now teaches a range of Outdoor Leadership courses, including: Swiftwater Rescue, Marine Safety & Survival, Coastal Kayaking, Packrafting, Adventure Filmmaking, and Wilderness Medicine.

Lucy (15) and I are in the final weeks of preparation for the Missouri River 340 (yes, that's a virtually non-stop 340 miles of racing via canoe on the Missouri River... The wide Missouri).

Greta will be our support crew, onsite, and we are in the Mixed Tandem class. Not sure if Lucy is the youngest paddler this year, but I'll guess she's the youngest on a tandem team.

Lots of questions, lots to sort out I'm the coming weeks, but we're feeling good.
