Our students are so hard at work they’re even in an Anchor Chart battle!

Mr. St. Louis’ Physical Science class has entered the game, as well as Mrs. Stilwell’s PACK time. Meanwhile, Mr Brown’s Math classes are still churning them out as well. We are proud of the hard work that takes place every day in our classrooms. Our teachers and students are the best!

When you think about working in education, you probably think of only teachers. But schools need teachers plus all kinds of other workers to help students learn, grow and succeed.

Join us for the Education Career Expo on Thursday, Oct. 29, at Patton High School and discover what a career in education could look like for you or your student.

Middle and high school students: Get a look at career paths that could start now and continue through college.

College students: Learn about pathways into teaching and other careers in schools.

Adults: Explore meaningful career opportunities, including current job openings, whether you’re considering a career change or looking for a way to make a difference in your community.

You’ll hear from leaders in education, learn about different pathways into the field and have the chance to talk one-on-one with people who can help you figure out where you might fit.

🍔 Free cheeseburger meal starts at 4:30 p.m.

🎤 Keynote speaker: Charles Williams, principal of Draughn High School, at 5:30 p.m.

Then, explore information booths featuring specific education career opportunities, programs and current job openings.

Ages 5–6: Must turn 5 before August 31, 2026, and cannot turn 7 before August 31, 2026.

That’s our Principal, Mrs. May representing HA and NC Alternative Education. We are very proud and wish her much success presenting on the amazing things happening at Hallyburton Academy and Burke County Public Schools.

Alternative education leaders from across the nation are coming together to connect, collaborate, share ideas, and strengthen advocacy for the students and communities we serve. There is incredible power in bringing passionate educators together with one shared mission—creating opportunities for ALL students!

We are proud to see NCAAE President Carla Sain May representing North Carolina at the National Alternative Education Association conference, presenting: New Roots, New Routes: Rebranding Schools for Resilience & Relevance. Additionally, Ken Simeone, the Executive Director of Alternative Learning for Rowan-Salisbury Schools, is also presenting at the conference. This is NCAAE in action—building connections, gaining insight, and ensuring North Carolina has a voice in the conversation at the national level.

We have some new hardware at Hallyburton Academy! THANK YOU to Dr Acord, our maintenance department, district, and BOE for the new sign to point our students and community to our new location. Some of our students even wanted to pose!
