Get out there Bulldogs and volunteer this Saturday!
Hi All,
Happy New Year! Thanks to all who contributed to such a successful campaign in 2022! We were once again able to provide a bough for each of the veterans resting at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon. Thanks for all the sharing your emails, cash donations, supporting our fundraising events in some way and for volunteering to help unload trucks, and place and pick up the boughs…it’s all very much appreciated!
**Volunteers needed to pick up boughs for disposal on-site this Saturday: Saturday, January 14, 2023, starting at 7:30 AM, volunteers of all ages are welcome and the event will go on, rain or shine. Volunteers may bring a pole or dowel to work in pairs and string boughs on them for easy pick up and some have also brought wagons and wheelbarrows to move the boughs. Boughs are hauled out to the curb and picked up by Recology garbage trucks. Volunteers of all ages are welcome and this usually takes 90 minutes or so; no sign-up required...just show up. Please watch for parking signs and park near whichever section you would like to work. As a reminder, we are ONLY picking up the boughs; please do not remove any other items from the headstones. (NOTE: Family members are welcome to take home their boughs, but they must be removed before Saturday morning).
A huge thanks, too, to the folks at Recology for donating their time and equipment to take care of this for us, as well as removing all the cardboard when the boughs were delivered.
**7th Annual Golf Tournament: Friday, June 2, 2023, at Haggin Oaks Golf Complex in Sacramento. To-date, plans are for a shotgun start in the morning; time to be determined. Plans are still in the works, and we’ll update when we have more information!
**Donations: Checks are accepted year-round and may be sent to:
RememberAVet.net, PO 773, Winters, CA 95694
We are already starting to work on funding for the 2023 event and plan to purchase about 32,000 boughs and we rely heavily on individual donations…that’s where you can really help! It’s more important than ever for you to share our emails with family, friends, neighbors and co-workers. The more we can spread the word about the Wreath Project and its mission, the more support we get! Thank you for all of your ongoing support and your help to keep the Wreath Project successful in its mission of remembering and honoring our veterans and their families.
Sincerely,
Curtis & Susie Stocking and Family
