Some great growth is happening in the Band!!

The JV Band earned a 4th Division on stage, but excelled in the sight-reading room!! After a bit of extra reading, they earned a 1st Division!!!

The Varisty Band is building on last year's momentum and hasn't stopped improving! They earned a 3-2-2 on stage and a 2-2-1 in the sight reading room.

Keep up the hard work and next year is sure to be amazing!

Today is the Day!! For the first time in years, Morales Junior High School will be taking two bands to the UIL Middle School Concert and Sight-Reading Evaluation in Hondo, TX!!

Both the JV and Varsity bands will be performing at the Hondo Fine Arts Center. There are two portions to each performance. The bands will perform three pieces they have been preparing since before Christmas Break as the concert portion of their performance. Afterwards, they will be tested in their reading abilities in the sight-reading portion. In sight-reading, the band has only 7-minutes to prepare a never-before-seen piece of music (that on it's own usually takes two minutes to perform).

Audience members are welcome to join us today for the concert portions of the performances, but the sight-reading portion is closed off to the public.

What an amazing day!!

Thank you to the clinicians for providing us this learning experience; thank you to the hosts and organizers for making this happen; thank you friends, family, staff, and administration for coming out and showing your support; and of course, thank you to our musicians for your hard work!! You are paving the way for great things!!

Next up, UIL Concert and Sight Reading!!! See you all March 7th!!

If you want to spend a weekend filled with music in San Antonio, come see the Region 11 Middle School bands tonight at 5:00pm at Somerset Performing Arts Center, then follow it up Sunday afternoon at 3:00pm with a combined concert featuring the San Antonio Community Wind Ensemble and the University of the Incarnate Word Wind Ensemble!! All without spending a penny on tickets!!

🎵 Don't forget! Our concert with the University of the Incarnate Word Wind Ensemble is happening soon! Join us this Sunday, February 25th, 3pm!! Admission is free and open to the public.

Tomorrow is Region Band Day!!

The MJH Band program is sending 6 students to perform in a combine ensemble with some of the best 7th and 8th grade musicians in the area!

There will be a FREE CONCERT tomorrow evening at 5:00 PM at the new Somerset High School Performing Arts Center (7650 S Loop 1604 W, Somerset, TX 78069).
