The SWTX EMS Program is proud to recognize Luis Arroyo on successfully passing the National Registry Paramedic (NREMT) exam and officially becoming a Nationally Registered Paramedic.

This milestone reflects a year and a half of dedication in the classroom, long hours during clinical rotations, and a demanding field internship that prepared him for the realities of paramedicine. The work wasn’t easy, but Luis stayed the course and earned every bit of this accomplishment.

Luis is currently serving the community as a member of Val Verde EMS in Del Rio, where he’ll continue putting the knowledge and skills he developed throughout the program into practice while caring for patients when they need it most.

Congratulations, Luis, on this well-earned achievement. Your SWTX EMS family is proud of you and excited to watch your career continue to grow.

A new look is coming to the SWTX EMS Program! 🚑🚑

Our new EMS entrance doors are ready to welcome students as they begin the next semester. Designed to resemble the rear of an ambulance, these doors reflect the mission of our program and the profession our students are preparing to enter.

Every student who walks through these doors is taking another step toward a career dedicated to serving others.

The SWTX EMS Program Advisory Committee convened today with our respected clinical and EMS partners from Eagle Pass and nearby communities. We sincerely appreciate the ongoing support and collaboration of the agencies and healthcare professionals dedicated to the education, achievement, and future success of our students.

During the meeting, the committee discussed recent program developments, including student retention and National Registry pass rates, projected enrollment, program objectives and strategic initiatives, clinical and field training opportunities, employer input, regional workforce demands, and findings from our recent Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) audit. We also explored ways to further strengthen partnerships, enrich student learning experiences, and ensure our graduates are fully prepared to deliver high-quality patient care from the start of their careers.

These meetings are essential to sustaining a strong EMS education program, as they bring together educators, EMS leaders, healthcare partners, and community stakeholders to ensure our curriculum remains aligned with the evolving needs of the profession.

We extend our gratitude to all who participated and shared their time, knowledge, and dedication to the continued growth of the SWTX EMS Program. Together, we are shaping the next generation of EMS professionals to serve our communities with skill, compassion, and excellence.

🎉 Great things are happening this fall at the SWTX EMS Program! 🚑

We are excited to announce that both our EMT and Paramedic programs are officially full for the Fall semester! The response from our communities has been incredible, and we are grateful for the trust our students place in us as they begin their EMS careers.

Our Spring EMT course is already building a waitlist, so if you’re interested in becoming an EMT, we encourage you to reach out early for information about the enrollment process and program requirements.

We are also proud to welcome Eagle Pass ISD High School EMT students to our campus this year through our partnership. We look forward to helping these students begin their journey into emergency medical services.

When we started planning for this year, we hoped for a little growth. Through hard work, dedication, and the support of our faculty, students, clinical partners, and community, we didn’t just grow—we THRIVED!

Thank you to everyone who continues to support the SWTX EMS Program. We can’t wait to see what this semester has in store!

Fourth of July Holiday: All SWTX locations will be closed on Friday, July 3rd, in observance of the Fourth of July holiday. Offices will reopen, and classes will begin on Monday, July 6th, at 8:00 am.

The Southwest Texas College EMS Program would like to congratulate Patricia Vasquez, a Spring 2026 Paramedic Program graduate, on successfully passing the National Registry Paramedic (NRP) exam and officially earning her Paramedic certification!

Patty has demonstrated a commitment to providing exceptional patient care throughout her journey in the SWTX EMS Program. From the classroom and skills lab to clinical and field experiences, she consistently worked to develop the knowledge, confidence, and critical thinking required of today’s paramedics.

As a member of Lone Star Ambulance in Eagle Pass, Patty now takes the next step in her EMS career, where she will continue serving her community with compassion and professionalism. We have no doubt she will make a positive impact on the patients and communities she serves.

Outstanding Achievement for the Spring 2026 EMT Class

The Southwest Texas College EMS Program is proud to announce that the Spring 2026 EMT graduating class has achieved a 100% pass rate on the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) examination.

This outstanding accomplishment reflects the hard work, dedication, and perseverance of our students throughout the semester. From the classroom and skills lab to clinical and field rotations, these graduates demonstrated the commitment necessary to succeed and become competent EMS professionals.

The program would also like to extend special recognition and congratulations to EMT Instructor Priscilla Rios for her dedication, mentorship, and unwavering commitment to student success. Her passion for EMS education, high standards, and support of her students played a significant role in helping this cohort achieve this remarkable milestone. Lab Assistant David Ullman took part in their success by guiding students alongside Priscilla by helping students become proficient in their skills. Through their guidance, encouragement, and hands-on instruction, they helped create an environment that challenged students to excel and prepared them for success on the National Registry examination and in the EMS profession.

A 100% NREMT pass rate is a testament to the teamwork between students, faculty, clinical preceptors, field training partners, and program staff who work together to prepare the next generation of EMS providers.

Congratulations to the Spring 2026 EMT Class, Instructor Priscilla Rios, and Lab Assistant David Ullman on this exceptional achievement. Your hard work and dedication have resulted in a milestone that reflects the excellence of the Southwest Texas College EMS Program.
