On a winter afternoon in 1952, a love story began when Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King took a stroll in Boston Common. More than a decade after this fateful first date, Dr. King returned to the Common to address the over 22,000 people who marched with him from Boston’s Roxbury neighborhood. This January 13th, some 70 years after Martin and Coretta’s stroll, the park will be christened with a monument attesting to the love this couple shared with each other—and with the world itself.

Titled The Embrace, the 20-foot-tall sculpture was designed by artist Hank Willis Thomas in collaboration with MASS Design Group, and stands in the new 1965 Freedom Rally Memorial Plaza.

It was our hope that our civilization had evolved beyond the cruelty of war and the suffering it inflicts upon innocent individuals, especially children. Picasso painted "Guernica" after the Nazi's vicious bombing of the small Spanish town on market day, at 16:30 , Monday, 26 April 1937. A huge painting - about 11' tall by 22' wide, it is painted in black and white. An icon of world art, it takes on new meaning with recent events in Ukraine!

Welcome to another creative year at Utica College. Here are a variety of art works created by Generation Z artists from a number of diverse cultures. They developed post 9-11 with our world facing so many political, health, and environmental challenges. Be sure to view all the works by opening up those which are 'hidden'!

Welcome to a new creative year at Utica College!
Here is a collection of art works from young, generation Z artists representing a number of different countries and cultures. While they may share typical concerns of all artists, they grew up in a post 9-11 world with challenging political and climate changes.
