Parents, grandparents and caregivers are you ready for summer?
😎 A Summer Survival Guide for Screens: What Media Ratings Tell You—and What They Don’t
Monday, June 22 | 7:00 PM
Spiritual Renewal Center
1342 Lancaster Ave, Syracuse, NY 13210
Virtual workshop
Rev. Dr. Robin Blair
Suggested fee: $25
SUMMER IS COMING…
And with it come long days, family gatherings, vacations, sleepovers, rainy afternoons, and one inevitable question:
“What should the kids watch?”
Most parents and grandparents recognize ratings like G, PG, PG-13, and TV-Y.
But have you ever wondered:
❓ Who decides those ratings?
❓ What do they actually measure?
❓ What don’t they tell us?
❓ Why can two children respond very differently to the same content?
❓ Are ratings enough to help families make wise choices?
This summer, children will consume hundreds of hours of media. Some of it may inspire, educate, and encourage. Some of it may raise questions we never expected.
Before summer schedules fill up, join us for a practical and faith-informed workshop designed specifically for parents and grandparents.
Together we’ll explore:
✅ How media ratings work
✅ What ratings do—and do not—tell us
✅ Why children’s developmental stages matter
✅ How to move beyond ratings toward meaningful family conversations
✅ A simple framework for helping children develop their own inner compass
Because the goal isn’t fear.
It’s raising children who can learn to discern wisely in a media-shaped world.
📅 Coming June 22, 2026. 7:00 pm Zoom workshop for your convenience!
