Up until the last few years, Q***r Culture was relegated to clubs where members of the community could meet. Now, there is a lot more visibility and the culture is accessible to those who wish to find it, whether through RuPaul's Drag Race and Q***r Eye or in the clubs and through Pride Parades. ***rCulture ***rEye

Often the American Q***r Movement is a whitewashed movement, but it was started by Black, Trans womxn and on stolen land.
First Nation and Indigenous folx have long been marginalized, assimilated, and invaded by white colonizers.
Still, the Indigenous and First Nations of the world have a long history celebrating, connecting, and respecting the spirit (purple) and nature (green) tenants of PRIDE and q***r culture. They also have a beautiful history of recognizing two-spirit individuals and understanding that the heterosexual cis-gender default we are raised in is both a construct and toxic.
So today let’s celebrate our Indigenous and First Nations community members and honor their history and the unique challenges they face today.

In celebration of Pride Month, we look back and remember the histories and legacies that have gotten us where we are today. There is power in knowledge, validation in history, and community in a shared story.
