Join us in commentating the events of 9/11/2001. Three events are happening this week to recognize the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. A panel discussion on Thursday, September 9th will be an academic and personal accounts of the events and affects of the events. Saturday, September 11th will begin with a fundraiser kickball game, and the memorial events will conclude with a community barbecue and flag ceremony.

This week, SGA would like to highlight Ciara (Putrello) Parrish, '04. Ciara has come full circle with the Utica College Community. She frequented Utica College as a child, where she grew up in Utica, her father graduated from UC and her mother worked here for many years. Now, she currently helps students and alumni as the Assistant Director of Annual Support Programs with the
Office of Advancement.

Students in the SGA have been working alongside administration to develop plans for and fund student-centered infrastructure on UC's campus. This bill allocates funds from the SGA 2020-2021 budget as a seed fund for several projects, with a plan to work with administration and the Board of Trustees to fulfill the rest of the funding needed for the projects. There are three projects being planned: A Free-Speech Plaza, a Native Species Mindfulness Garden, and a Community Greenhouse. The complete document will be available on PioHub.

SGA Senators, Executive board members, and members of our trans community on campus worked to develop the THEM Act. This piece of legislation develops a process to provide continuing education for members of our community on issues of transgender rights, transgender inclusion, and the importance of using transgender student's true names and pronouns. Over the Academic year, SGA members and community members have been working to develop recommendations to the school to improve our environmental impact on campus. This piece of legislation, the Green Leadership Act, encourages the school to take a stance and be a leader in the fight against climate change, and place higher value in sustainability.
